The latest IHG Rewards Club PointBreaks promotion ended on 31 January, and no new offer has been launched in February. In fact, the PointBreaks page has been removed completely from the IHG website.

According to Loyalty Lobby, this is not returning. That's a real shame.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

While I rarely found desirable PointsBreak destinations, I did make very good use of PointBreak bookings when the CP Gold Coast was on the list a few years ago. Its a shame to see the promotion discontinued.

Many years ago, CP Terrigal (by the beach and 75 min drive from home!) was available on PBs, I made many bookings on weekends, and if the weather was bad, I would cancel...me bad!

I had some great bargains. Some even quite recently on a visit to California.

And I once booked about 7 rooms, from one to a few nights, at CP Coogee for a family get together. It only cost 5,000 points per room per night!

Bummer! At least I got to use this in its final days at CP Hawkesbury for Australia Day.

I once got Holiday Inn in centre of Warsaw for 5000 points. Bargain. I think IHG are being somewhat negative thinking with this decision. There is plenty of competition (often Accor secures my business) and if IHG are being negative I'll just take my point collection and pop them into airline FF programme. Sometimes it's just cheaper paying the advertised price than using loads of points forgot standArd IHG.

Remember an opening special 5,000 points break for HI Express in BNE. Don’t recall staying after that. Over IHG and its hokey rewards.

cheers skip

Very loyal for many years. Have not been able to use Pointsbreaks for long time due to limited availability.

Over 800,000 points but I freak when I see HI ChiangMai for 10,000 points + $70 when paying for the room outright can often be cheaper. :(

Very sad to See PB go. I made use of it many times over the years. My last stay was HI Montevideo In June 2019. Way back in 2007 stayed a Saturday night at CP Terrigal for 5k and was credited with 11,074 points. No idea how that happened as only spent $10 or $15 to park there.

Most recent stay was HIX Hong Kong CBD2; for what we were doing was a decent location actually and transport on busses worked very well. 10k/night.

My best redemption would have been 5k a night for the Presidential Suite at the Holiday Inn Christchurch (they had an error and all rooms were available under the points break offer). I don't think the hotel is around anymore though.....

My final hoora was only a 10,000 point stay at St. Marys Holiday Inn .... normally 20,000 points.

Another change I've noticed, is the loss of 10% rebate on points, when you renewed AMB paying $US200.

I used 140,000 points for Reward bookings last year, and didn't get the rebate of 14,000 points.

You have to ask IHG for them. And you then get them promptly. They admit that their rebate system doesn’t work properly.

Last used 2 x 10k breaks at AKL HI in late 2019.

Saved a couple of $100 even after purchasing most of the points

I used Pointbreaks to stay at the following hotels in 1 trip in 2010, all 5000 points per night:

HI Helsinki City Centre (2 nights)
HI Zurich (3 nights)
HI Paris Gare de L'est (4 nights)
CP Bruges (2 nights)
CP Amsterdam schiphol (2 nights)

That was our first European trip so very appreciated the cost savings from PBs.

Also stayed at the following places in other years, all on 5000 points PB:

HI Rotorua (2 nights)
CP Terrigal (2 nights)

And mistake points for HI Old Sydney for 10K per night on Nye.

I will miss these Pointbreaks.

Great effort. Well done.

I did. Emailed Customer Support, and all my expected points were added to my account, about a week or so later.
