If Qantas can't be profitable at these prices.......

Or $540 for economy going SYD-OOL in a few weeks.

I got the giggles and booked business on VA for $380 instead.

I suspect it is the giggling and then people booking with the competitors (whom often have lower prices and sometimes better products) that may have something to do with the problems at QF at the moment???

Given my recent experiences trying Air New Zealand for a US trip (as opposed to Qantas) then I don't doubt it. It's going to take a lot of persuading to get me to go back to Qantas on my next trip to the US, even with the brief stop in Auckland.

(oh, and NZ was $2,000 cheaper which helps even more especially as I'm self funded).

My main problem is NZ's A320's they operate across the ditch. They have next to no leg room, and I seem to have no joy snagging the extra leg-room seats (even had one check-in agent in MEL tell me I was not entitled as VA WP, only to get one allocated in the lounge). I believe VA WP should be eligible to select them at check-in?

I had an A320 exit row over and a 767 back. I was in Business on the 767, and the A320 exit was fine.

But yes, the lesser product across the ditch is certainly a detractor.

I think Joyce needs to go. He has destroyed the Qantas brand.

They need a new leader that can make changes and bring it back to a premium airline it once was.

you have to give him some credit, at least he is trying premium pricing! Now just have to work on the other half of the equation ;)
