Each day I read The Age online, and when I went to the site today on the hom page was an add for Hampton (with some sort of competition).

Now I didn't think there were any Hamptons or Hampton Inns in Australia. I checked and sure enough none come up on the Hilton site.

So what's up with advertising for a product that doens't exist in Australia, let alone Victoria/Melbourne?

Advertisements on many web sites are customised in various ways as a form of targetting the ad. One way is to try to base it on where you are located to give you something appropriate to your area. In this case it would appear to be giving you an ad based on your location (or at least where it thinks you are).

You obviously logged on in the states as I just used your link and all the ads said clicca qui.I am logging on from Rome.
