Flying AKL-LAX on NZ landing 1500, have same day Tues and the next day to get to Toronto. Need a brain Thursday Friday then fly back. I read some people do sc runs in the US on AA for QF.

Does AA have the same deal as QF where you can book a flight then call up the same day and say pay to fly the next cabin up? i.e. work foots the Y fare and I foot the J or F fare difference?

I would rather go direct but I'm guessing the more places you transit the more sc. Do these need to be on separate tickets to maximise earn or can they be on the same ticket?

I have never set foot on an AA plane before.

Flights work the same way in the USA as they do in Australia. If you change flight numbers you will earn SCs for each flight (all on one ticket is fine). If you don't change flight numbers, even if you change aircraft, you will earn a single set of SCs based on the origin and destination.

Cheers for that MEL_Traveller. I think I've come to the conclusion that I can really only do a 1 stop at most. Everything else involves a late flight / red eye to do 3 flights which won't be conducive to a bright eyed bushy tailed NZflygirl.

I'm really starting to think there's a market for people that want to pay little but maximise frequent flyer stuff and not have to do the internet search themselves.
