ID cards 'needed' for local air travel

So it has absolutely NOTHING to do with security then? Glad we have that sorted.

Dave

If some form of name matching is being performed ( c.f. USA ) to look for suspected risks , then it would be necessary to ensure that the person travelling had the same name as that booked, so it could be a security thing

I feel that with time any form of identification can be duplicated.

About six weeks from introduction to having a fully functional fraudulent document is the standard time. This time frame was cited for the successful copying of the proposed Australia card with several layers of security.

I attended a fraud conference last year where several experts were talking about document and identity fraud. and this figure was widely accepted amongst them as being correct.

An example cited was the NSW drivers licence. There are so many versions that the average police officer cannot possibly know all the variations. Therefore it is totally impossible for anyone with only a very casual knowledge to be able to properly determine the legitimacy of the proffered identification.

Security? No window dressing to appease the sheeple and populist politicians who want to be seen as doing something.

TFTFY.

I now try very hard not to laugh at the 4 times my BP is checked against my DL when I go through security here in the LOTFAP. The multiple use of the pink highlighter makes all the difference I'm told.
One would hope that the new Aust government would not fall into the same trap as its predecessor, but they seem to be hell bent on copying most of the policies, so why should this be any different. <sigh>
