Greetings all

I'm just curious to know if anyone has recently paid to upgrade a room at this hotel to include Club access on check in, and if so, what was the price per room for two people?

Thanks to any respondents in advance.

M

I have not stayed recently so cannot answer the question, just wanted to chip in that if you get Ambassador and book the room cat below Club, you will get Club. For stays of a couple of days or more, a non Ambassador wanting club access can make a good saving, not to mention get a free night certificate.

Was considering that, and will probably join as our stay is 15 nights, but which category would be the one below? Their website shows the advance IC club rate as an option with king bed deluxe harbour view, so would king premier full harbour view be the one below? Or would it be safer to book the king bed deluxe harbour view without the club, and wait and see if they offer the upgrade?

Generally its price category rather than description if that makes sense, so picking the room thats directly under the club room in price seems to work. Thats harder when hotels like this one offer club access on all rooms rather than showing it as a separate category, so I would suggest having a look at the upgrade success thread on FT to see what the trend is with Ambassadors re room booked and upgrade received.

I stayed here at the end of 2012 as Amb. At the time if I recall it was hk $600 per person for club access, but as Amb you get dual occupancy at single rate. You won't be disappointed. Recommend as markis says, go Amb.

I "almost" stayed here however during Easter last year as the prices were so competitive through IHG F&F rates and I would have gone here for sure if it wasn't for Amex FHR offering stay-4-pay-3 offering at Island Shangri-La, which is my preferred hotel in HKG.

While the F&F rates may have changed since, they were nothing short of ridiculous when I checked (it was like $160 USD for a basic room vs. $800 for a room at the LMO/Shangri-La) so it might definitely be worth checking this out if you haven't booked yet. The F&F rates for IC GS were atleast 10-20% cheaper than the corproate rates that my firm gets at IHG and this was really odd because for IC HK, the F&F rates were fairly similar to the corporate rates.

+1 For the club access too. I keep hearing good things about the club at this place.

Hi there - I posted a copy of the welcome letter from check-in at the IC GS HK late in 2013 which details this... hope it helps:

Edit: Adding that I am Platinum IHG, and status likely varies the rate one pays?

Cheers.
