Hello all,

My partner and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary this October and booked a room at a resort on one of the outer islands in Fiji. As a stopover we had booked two nights at IC Fiji using our BOGO and have a confirmed booking for a 1 bedroom Club Suite with plunge pool.

I recently received a call from the IC Area Director of Revenue Management, Fiji & Vanuatu, advising that they have received a group booking to book out the entire hotel at the time of our booking and have requested to move us to a different hotel for the two nights. He had advised that they will pay for a room + breakfast and has suggested the Hilton Denarau or the Marriot Momi Bay.

My dilemma is: 1. none of these hotels have club facilities. (we usually graze during happy hour in the evening and don’t buy dinner.). 2. I assume I will not receive IHG points. 3. My loyalty will not be recognised at a different chain.

Any sugggestions on my dilemma and what are my options?

FYI I am an IC Ambassador and Spire Elite.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

I can’t help but I’d be asking for more than what they are offering - eg Restaurant credit etc.
Hate it when hotels and restaurants bump people for a better deal.

Ask for a suite and dinner with wine each night as well

That hotel will make a motza on that group booking. I would be expecting a daily restaurant credit at least.

Thanks all, I have emailed back today asking for a over-water Royal suite at the Marriott Momi Bay including breakfast, airport transfers an FJD$300 per night and credit of 20,000 IHG points.
I will let you all know what they come back with.

Yeh Momi is best option. On Denarau I like the Hilton - Westin - Sheraton - Radisson - Sofitel in that order.

Good on you ...why not ask; can't hurt.

Appears that the IC Fiji is not in a hurry to respond?

Hi all, the IC Fiji came back to me after they were able to confirm the Marriott Momi Bay. We had all our conditions approved. We have one night booked using points a week before when we arrive into Fiji before going to Namale Resort (this was a booking after being at Namale) and they have upgraded that booking to a club suite.
We were still charged the one night (FJD$1110) however are able to keep the BOGO certificate. Happy with that as two nights in the Marriott plus private transfers + food credit has cost IC nearly FJD$5500.
Even though we will not get to spend the couple of days there I am happy that they were accommodating to our requests.
