Given the extended lockdowns that are preventing even domestic travel I wonder if QF FF will consider special status extensions beyond what they have already announced for Melbourne based customers. My anniversary was the end of July, so whilst they extended me to July 2021, I don't see flying coming any time soon as Vic continues to have record COVID days...

Ahem what about Sydney siders, they are also effectively banned from going anywhere too except regional NSW!

Yep, bit of a moot point arguing for a local exception. The whole country is basically grounded again. Even is other states can theoretically visit each, actual flight connections are very limited. I assume it will be a fluid response.

What about Sydney, Adelaide people who commute to Melbourne, do they get something.

I think it will be everyone or no one.

There will be another round of something. But I wouldn't expect a move on that until September or October.

The only place SA can visit without Quarantine on return, our outright refusal to be let back in, is Qld, NT and WA. WA wont let us in so that's moot. Maybe Tas later. Its Australia wide in reality.

I would be of the same opinion. As Qantas are currently providing Status Credit Support until September, they are unlikely to to do anything else until nearer this time. The way they have structured it as a monthly Status Credit 'payment' would make it easy for them to extend if necessary beyond September.

I would be surprised if any further support is restricted only to Melbourne, or any other particular area as the impact is felt more widely throughout country. It also applies, although perhaps to a lesser extent, to those of us overseas who are unable to visit Australia at this time.

I wonder if any AFF members will find a Melbourne-based mail forwarder in light of this possibility...

Disagree with this notion.

It's not like everyone bar victoria/MEL is back to normal and everyone's having a beaut time flying the world just like it was. They're not.

This too shall pass as they say and probably well before travel returns to any kind of normal.

As others have said QF almost certainly will do more for all status folks not just ones in any particular location and if they did I would actually be a bit disappointed. What next? "I was at that hotel in Sydney that had the outbreak so I should get another status boost?" or "I flew BNE-MEL-SYD-BNE and came back with a bunch of handbags and a hangover(and a virus) and now I can't travel for a long time how about a status boost?"

no..

I think some people are thinking very short term here. There's a bigger and longer term picture here.

And as is obvious I am in MEL but I do not agree with this idea.

I predict the monthly status support credits will become universal after they end in sept and continue every month until domestic flights resume.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Perhaps you are an optimist.
I will let others decide whether I refer to the support credits or for domestic flight resumption.
:confused:o_O

Perhaps I'll find elsewhere to be wandering

IMHO they are going to extend everyone until at least 2021/2022 depending on SC end date... I am end of March and if it had to be flying to get me over the line I have no chance even though I am QLD based as can do no MEL or SYD travel or even OS only QLD regional and to make WP on QLD regional not impossible but way too much travel for me and don't have the time for it!!!

We are currently booked to fly Adl - Cairns on JQ Max this month, then return on QF via Brisbane in J. Had to book J as I was using credit vouchers. Now, the QF flights will be very interesting as they were vouchers from bookings made during the DSC offers. PNR stayed the same. I think we may actually requal "on our own" except we will need 1 more flight to do the 4 sectors.
