I will NEVER fly Singapore Airlines again

I agree that this shouldnt be locked. We seem to be getting a little over-sensitive. As soon as someone criticises another person it does not mean that the thread should be locked to avoid conflict.

I have my moments when I cough about SQ as well as others but I just find it imperious to say that I will NEVER fly with them ever again.

I avoid QF because my experience has not been good but I still use them when necessary. I even fly with Garuda when necessary.

I might be tempted to say that I would never fly with LionAir or Aeroflot and others but they are in a different category.
Interesting priorities. I'd rather fly Aeroflot these days than Garuda, which is on my never fly list.

And I wont fly IB again. So There.

Would rather avoid but would fly anyway if no other choice: CX, JL, NH, TG
Would avoid even if it means a more convoluted routing or flying to another destination: Indonesian carriers, KLM

Surprised CX/JL/TG on the avoid list QF009 (although agree would go QF/BA on equivalent routes, but happily fly any of them if no QF/BA).

Why are KLM on never fly??

I wouldn't want to get into another prolonged debate about CX as I'm aware they have their fans on here. ;)If I didn't care about FFP, when there's no QF/BA I'd much rather fly SQ or MH over any of those.

JL/NH have v nice hard products (well, JL J aside), but i suffer a mild culture shock each time I'm onboard. I understand that it's Japanese culture to be so painfully polite, but it makes me uncomfortable.

TG is more because of the inconsistency - you never know what you're going to get from crew right down to equipment. Equipment wise I think they're now better as almost all planes have been refurbished, but when I flew them the only way I knew definitively what I was going to get was when I actually stepped onboard. I remember chuckling when they advertised their new service to Moscow with their new product on their A346 aircraft, only to service the route for the first few months with their ancient MD11s, i thought "how TG." They were advertising the debut of their new 772ER with the new angled flat product so prominently in MEL. I actually flew MEL-BKK on the day the a/c was advertised to have been launched for service out of MEL (TG rep on the phone even boasted "yes it's going to be great, we're going to be just like Singapore Airlines"), only to step onboard and find a ratty old 773 fitted with Millenium-style seating. And I wouldn't even begin on the slip-shod service (eg lazy FA insisted on serving the Bordeaux when I'd asked for the Bourgogne, insisting that it's "all the same") or the reckless disregard for safety on that flight.... When I returned a few weeks later however, it was like flying on a totally different airline - brand spanking new plane, fantastic service. My other trips with them have also mirrored similar inconsistencies and flying with TG is really like playing Russian roulette. Their only saving grace is perhaps their catering, which is quite good in both J and whY, though F is rather J-esque.

EDIT: I'd just realised that I've actually written up TRs of these very TG flights, so to illustrate:

On a bad day, TG FAs can be rather racist towards pax of Asian background. Yes ironic I know, and I'd never level accusations of racism lightly and have always defended carriers like QF, SQ and even CX against similar accusations from people who live in their cocoons of persecution. Neither am i the kind who overanalyses everything and try to see discrimination everywhere i go. But when your seatmate is a caucasian and always gets served first, auto drink top ups whereas you're conscientiously ignored, which btw has occurred on more than 1 flight, it's hard not to notice a certain pattern of behaviour. On more than one occassion, my seatmate/s have also noticed and have been kind enough to direct the FAs' attention to their neglect.

*deep breaths*

Why are KLM on never fly??

Experienced them thrice, never again. skan_y, skan_y carrier.

And before i get pulled up again for OT-ness ;), I'd never let a single bad experience colour my views of an entire organisation. Though first impressions can have a disproportionate influence on one's perception, I'd only come to a conclusion of any service provider once a trend can be established.

Keith I avoid JL only because of the lack of AA bonus miles but sometimes there is little choice.Flew JL LHR-NRT a few days ago and every cabin had a pommie FA-and they served us gaijin. The fellow we had was great, definitely not up on the finer points of Japanese culture but was able to convince me to sample the Japanese wine on board and it wasnt too bad.So on a flight to Europe if it had a bonus giving codeshare it might be an idea to try them again.

I neglected to point out that there was one exception with my JL/NH experience. On NRT-SIN earlier this year there was a Singaporean FA onboard. Rather charming character and there was much chemistry unlike most other JL/NH FAs. Well, not exactly QF/BA standards but still refreshing.

I try to max out my QF segments on RTWs as much as possible, so I'd more than likely be doing SYD/MEL-LHR or SIN/BKK-FRA/LHR than NRT-LHR. And on the transpacific flights to/from NRT I'd much rather be flying AA due to the ability to EVIP, and even if I'm stuck in J I've much preferred the service and NGBC seats on AA.

I do not think Singapore Airlines will look seriously into any complaints. I sent mine 3 days after the incident followed up with two chasers for the past two weeks with no resolution on the unauthorised charges.

Perhaps they can afford to lose a few customers with so many new customers going to them based on their branding. Pity that the polite and friendly inflight service is marred by poor service among the ground crew and country office.

Hi, I have put a couple of complaints about Singapore Airlines here from a couple of years ago
For just on 10 years 95/05, I just never looked elswhere, I just booked. 5 times a year Brisbane to either Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
When they changed from Qantas to outsourcing for check in there was big improvement, but then it started to slip. Why? I don't know.
Then I started to notice mistakes with catering slip ups, reduction in baggage allowance, increase in fares, manipulating your on going connection to try and get you to take higher priced fares, questions and complaints to Krisflyer either not answered at all, or only answered in part.
Maybe it is the younger asians going through the ranks with less understanding of loyalty.
A lot of money spent in getting customers, or in Singapores case living on past reputation, and not really caring about keeping them.
Qantas is a good example. Most aussies wanted to fly with Qantarse. Now to me and many others they have destroyed the customer loyalty and are just another airline.singapore should remember loyalty is earned amd lost much more quickly.
You are paying and are entitled to service.
