i recently upgraded form a red deal fare to a business (U) using ff points I never had.. Now do i share how on here and let others try it or will a QANTAS person read it and block off the option. mmmm

it was a bit dicey as i waited 15mins at checkin while they looked at my ff account.

lolwut?

post it, we'll suss out if its dodgy or not.

The way you worded it sounds dodgy, and it’ll probably be picked up quicker on here by QF than if you don’t post it, but abusing the system will only work for so long before Qantas makes a complaint to the police..

Agree.

I don't think we're here to abuse the system, so I don't want to hear of something flat wrong.
Now the 100 points per item Macro deal is a completely different thing

not sure the police would care.
QFF terms aren't law! and should a qantas agent not apply them correctly, i'm sure that's qantas' problem not the police's.

EDIT: however I agree, once it's on here it's over one way or another.

The police would probably just tell QF to tighten up their systems! It's just a commercial arrangement.

In that case, I can’t wait to hear how… but I’m now probably going to be out of internet range for the weekend in CTL, so no one delete this thread or anything before I get back :p

ok ill post it
it may have been a total fluke I'm not sure

well i booked return to CNS in Y and upgraded the trip home with points.
this left me with a balance 114 points. however when you upgrade the points don't come off your balance for a few minutes
so in those few minutes i upgraded the flight to sydney to j but closed the window before the last screen as i didn't wanna get it to strife. i was just curious about what would happen.
however next time i logged on i was in business class and i never lost any more points.

I tend to think you might be into debit and future points will offset. It would only work if you had next to no points left after the previous transaction and I don't like to run my points down to that level and don't think i want to run the gauntlet of an embarrasing discussion at next check in.

I don't see it is illegal as the system should have fail safes in it to ensure integrity of their point booking system. not for me though

Pretty sure your points will run into arrears, they don't like to let point balances go into the negatives, but I know it happens, and you knowingly abused the system.

And by posting it on here, RedRoo will probably see it, and then they might go actively looking for your account so they can either reverse the upgrade, or make your point balance go into the negatives.

I'm just saying the above is all a possibility, but by knowingly taking advantage of technological limitations to gain a benefit you aren't entitled to, I think that you'd only deserve it.

well i didn't knowingly take advantage. i just did it as a test and didn't confirm the request on the final screen. i just closed the browser.

Ive already flown those flights and points weren't allocated for that sector but were for the others. I waited for 15 mins when i checked in while they checked my my ff account after i gave them my ff# and pin. So they could have changed it then.
