I turned down an upgrade Y to Y+ - would you?

I was in 40G. Great seat for whY, it has that nice little mini cabin feel as well, being the only row forward of the toilets.

No afraid not. But I am 6' and could reach the bulkhead wall with my feet (there is a cut out there that provides ample space for feet), the guy next to me was taller and also struggled to reach it.

There was a photo posted by anat0l in another thread the other day. The cutout looks to be about 3"-6" deep.

I would have stayed in the allocated bulkhead seat too. You made the right choice.

On my flight on Thursday from LAX to MEL I was upgraded from a standard economy aisle seat (52D, one row back from the baulkhead) to Y+ (38E).

Even though it was a PITA having to ask the person next to me to move each time I needed to get out (once the people in front have reclined there is no way you can get out without having to ask!), it was still preferable to what I had been previously allocated.

However, if I had been allocated a baulkhead seat in Y I would have preferred to stay there.

Thinking about it a bit more (have another Y+ flight coming up - although may be J seating here's hoping) - You're generally not getting out in Y anyway without the person moving so I guess it's ok in Y+.:idea:

I think most posts have been about moving from an aisle seat (generally bulkhead) in economy to a middle seat in premium economy section not business class.

Depends on the bulkhead, in row 40 on the 4 class 744 , there was plenty of room - the guy next to me climbed out over me without me even noticing (well my eyes were shut, obviously when he came back I noticed as my eyes were open, but he didn't physically disturb me). In row 66 on QF's A380, people (that are not even sitting in the row) sometimes use the space at that bulkhead to get from one aisle to the other :evil:

If I had an aisle bulkhead seat in economy I would not swap it for a middle seat in premium economy. To each their own.

Well, that'd be a common trait for any aisle seat, bulkhead or no bulkhead, Y or Y+. (Exception: exit row)

So the question really is would you rather you prefer to (take a middle seat and) inconvenience the aisle passenger or would you prefer to be the passenger in the aisle who risks that inconvenience.

It seems that most people seem to prefer the latter, and thus assume the aisle seat.

From memory I did not have to get up out of my seat when 40AB wanted to go for a wander.

Maybe the majority of posts, but maybe not posters.

As I indicated I would be looking to sleep on this flight; maybe even foregoing meal service.

In which case a middle PE seat would be just fine for sleeping as I'm not going to be accessing the aisle much and no-one would ordinarily be climbing over me.

I would accept the upgrade irrespective of the seat allocation.
