First 787 flight next week (JQ, 'faux' business class MEL-BKK) and looking forward to it! Will also leave me with just the 717 to conquer to complete the 7x7 series for me. :)

I likewise did the JQi domestic leg to tick off the 787 (also helped that I got to spend some time in the f lounge. I have booked a 717 flight for next month. Even though it may make me a little late for a social engagement that evening  but it had to be done ;) Good to know I am not alone. That will be all the 7 series for me. :D

.... I miss the 747's! Old fashioned, maybe, but I still think nothing beats sitting in the top deck ...."!

I agree. The 787 is but my current fetish.

(BTW, in June I am on THE BEST FLIGHT IN THE WORLD - upper deck Qantas 747 heading home to Australia after too long away)

I'm still missing the 707 :(

I'm still missing the 707 :(

That brings back memories... I can remember the last time flying on a 707 with FAT airlines in Taiwan 1985. It was an old Continental and someone had used a sharp object to try and scrape the "continental" name off everything; tables, doors, walls. Looked terrible... I still need the 787

So far I've had one flight on the 787. I was really looking forward to it, then on the morning of the flight I woke up with a nasty case of food poisoning. I still took the flight, but 12 hours in Y wasn't as fun as I had hoped in this case!

Can't wait to try it out again though.

And no, it's not just you. I still get excited if I'm flying on a Boeing 747 as well.

Hey there everyone,

this thread needs to go nowhere. I am just excited about a flight I have coming up and no one in my real world cares :)

In two days time I am getting my first flight on a 787. I have loved that plane since they were first designed, but here in Colombia I had only seen them, never flown them.

My first flight is just a short one in Y, flying on Avianca. Travelling Cartagena to Bogota. Just over an hour flight.

I have travelled quite a bit, but am excited about this flight. Hoping someone out there has suffered similar excitement at " just another flight" , so I don't feel so mental.

Or am I? :)
Not mental, just a bit weird. :D

I too had my first 787 flight a few weeks ago and loved it. It was just between MEL and SYD and was generally a massive nuisance as I had to go through the international terminal (it continued on to Bali or Thailand?) and JQ's check-in system is terrible (when compared with QFs). But the aircraft itself (which was quite empty) was fantastic and I can't wait for my next flight.
I must admit I have a soft spot for the 777, as that engine roar on takeoff sounds amazing. I also love a red-roo'd 747 and am looking forward to crawling all over VH-OJA (QF's first -400 recently retired in Wollongong) this coming weekend. While I'm amazed every time I see an A380 get up into the sky, I still love the "queen of the skies". Amazing for what is now quite an old aircraft. Recently spotting a 747-8 at HKG a few months ago was a highlight of my whole holiday. :)

I put together some footage from the aforementioned 787 flight. I felt like a bit of a clown filming everything but anywho. :)

12 hours in Y sounds like a nightmare even on my best day!

1hr 2 minutes to take off :)

I had arrived early and they generously offered me an earlier flight - on an A318 - no way!!

Flying my my first 787 sector in a month or so, can't wait! Was excited fitting it into my 280k award plus it will also be on JL which is an airline I've not flown on in a long long time. Quite keen to compare JL to CX.

Where were you sitting? Was it MDE-CTG-MDE?

JohnM, they are flying them once a day BOG-CTG-BOG. I thought it was a strange sector for a 787 but I believe they are using that short route for training purposes as they certify crews?????

I sat in 24K - "window" seat in exit row. Heaps of space due to the exit, but only half a window.
