I just made Diamond - any hotel recommendations?

If you were to compare this to the Fairmont Singapore, what would the major differences be at a Diamond level? I've got a booking at the Sofitel in January, and my last visit there was just as COVID was kicking off and I found it lovely, though obviously quiet at the time. I was tossing up between the Sofitel and Fairmont and am still on the fence, having never stayed at a Fairmont but as I'll have Diamond by then I know I'll get the most benefit. I'll be trying the Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit a few days before anyway.

As a Diamond they are usually pretty good with upgrades too so you are a good chance of a suite

I can book a suite with an SNU, would an upgrade happen to the next higher suite? Thinking about it.

Entirely up to management with many factors at play.
Don’t be surprised if they say no

Woke up this morning to this sign at the Fairmont Singapore. The Presential Suite is nice (of course) but it's much smaller. No meeting room. What annoyed me is there was no advance notice, either on the website, after booking or even last night!

The pool at the Sofitel is significantly more tranquil. Having said that you could also argue to lacks a vibe though.

I have just dropped back to Platinum after 5 years as Diamond but haven't noticed much difference TBH.

As stated by many Sofitel Adelaide is excellent

One suggestion for Tokyo is: Pullman Tokyo Tamachi

Not quite the same standard but I've also had a very pleasant stay at Mercure Ginza. No lounge of course.

Sofitel Singapore City Centre is also an outstanding place to stay

Also, Mercure Haneda provides good respite from a long day of travel

In General i find Sofitel offers refined, intimate luxury with French-inspired design, dining and personalised service. Fairmont generally provides grander, larger hotels with landmark architecture, extensive facilities, major events and the stronger Fairmont Gold lounge concept. I would say there are more weddings at a Fairmont for example. Grand celebration v elegant romance perhaps..........

Location will probably decide for you?
