There is a classic award bookable with Qf pts in Y for Lis to Dxb, then Dxb to Syd both on EK. arriving Dxb T3 and departing Dxb T3 with 1 hour transit at Dxb...would be on one PNR. Doable?, and I guess EK should protect if inbound late? This is for my daughter who is less travel savvy :)

They might make it but not sure about the bag.

Tough one...Y deboarding can take a while from an A380 or B777, boarding normally starts 20-40mins before departure. And you need to go through a central security point unlike in SIN. EK are good at putting staff at gates to collect passengers with tight connections.

As all on one ticket, I would do it as they will accommodate you on the next flight if missed. At worst, an 8-11 hr delay until next SYD flight and potentially a nice EU compo payout if delay missed due to late inbound flight. But I fly a lot and happy to run between flights and take what happens (and have lounge access). Would I book it for my daughter/wife with the added stress of a tight connection, probably not.

Not at issue as returning home to Sydney, and EK can deliver bag to home later.

I have done a 1 hour 15 min transit at Dxb before on Ek-EK, including changing terminal. Was travelling J, and was a bit stressful but made it easily. The next EK flight from Dxb to Syd is 19 hours later!
@kpc
Touch and go
There will be security checks even if Int to Int transit
Flights will be protected - how old is MissKpc?
22.

I can book a transit at Dxb of 21 hours but what is she going to do at Dxb for so long? Could book the T3 Transit hotel but that is not cheap....

2023 we were flying EK from SIN -DBX -FRA.The SIN flight was late and our 2hour transit turned into 40 minutes. Neither of us are that fast anymore. Had to change terminals and got held up at security in the second terminal. We still arrived at the next gate about 2 minutes before J pax boarded. the flight was on time. And our bags made it to FRA as well. I needed a couple of champagnes on boarding.
So it is doable with the big proviso that your first flight is on time. As the arrival and departure are both T3 it should be fine.

Another option: Could fly her Lis-Doh-Adl on Qr with 2 hr transit in Doh using Va pts...then separate Adl-Syd ticket eg Qf
Will dw her :)

MCT at DXB for Int-Int on EK is 60min, so it's legal, but not comfortable if you want lounge time.

All EK flights in DXB begin boarding 45-60min before departure.
I'm sure she'll make the connection, but no promises on overhead bag space. Assuming she's not in F.

The only issue is if she arrives into, say A gates, and departs C gates - which is, at best a 20-30min event gate to gate with no queues.

Another option is book transfer service with Airport Meet & Greet and Lounge Services in Dubai, UAE - marhaba

I did A to C gates on a 65min transit a few months ago. Take train from A to B, then an internal taxi to C. Our bags made it too.

Glad I found this thread! Was a bit concerned about our EK to EK transit through Dubai next month, but sounds like we'll probably be ok 🤞 We've got an 80 min transit, J reward seats and arrive/depart terminal 3 (mel-dbx-cph)

Hi, for what it's worth I have been travelling from Sydney to Glasgow for the last 20 years (60+ return trips) and those flights frequently have the connection time of 75 minutes through Dubai which is the absolute minimum that Emirates allows. I have never not made the connection and amazingly, despite some running on occasion, my bags have also always made it as well. I did have concerns for my teenage daughter making a 75 minute connection when travelling on her own but all went well and she reported no particular difficulties. In my experience security queues move quickly and the signage is good so wrong turns should not be an issue. As pointed out already, Emirates sometimes have staff greeting delayed flights to expedite things and the thought of paying a concierge to escort through the terminal is a good one and not particularly expensive as a kind of insurance policy. On arrival in Dubai there are numerous boards telling you which gate you need to go to and I always try and ascertain this as quickly as possible in case it has changed from any notification received onboard your incoming flight. Sadly, no time for the lounge although with Emirates getting tighter and tighter with their product that sometimes isn't included. Overall, I wouldn't be too concerned - enjoy the flights which hopefully include the refurbished A380s.
