Hong Kong Flight & Accomm

I have been reminded that I haven't posted for some time. I haven't posted because I have not had anything worthwhile saying until today. So here goes. ;);)

Flight to Hong Kong either Oct-Nov 2014 or 2015.
Can't be on an Airbus of B787 (won't fly on either)
Prefer PE or J
Must have Velocity FF points & status
Hotel accommodation in Hong Kong, x 4 nights
Any other little thing you may think of, I may entertain. ;)

I appreciate the wisdom and thoroughness that AFF's have, so please put on the thinking caps and get me a good flight.

regards

Sounds like you would have to fly to SYD or MEL to connect to a SQ 777 with that requirement list

I know SQ have flown the 380 to HKG, do they also use the 777?

Thanks. That's not outside the realm. SYD or MEL, I could perhaps spend a few days in either as well. :p

Well the VS SYD / Hong Kong option is now out as that service departs for the last time this afternoon .....

Velocity linked options to Hong Kong took a hit with that service going .......

Re accommodation, If you do a search on here for the 'Langham Place' - Mongkok - (note their are two Langham properties in Hong Kong Kong) you will find some good feed back from a number of contributors- If I don't need to be on actual Hong Kong Island it is my pick.

But it was an A340 service (Funny as statistically speaking it is a very safe aircraft).

I know a lot here spruik about the Conrad Hong Kong, but I have yet to stay there.

I'd also change your subject heading (and have your "I have been reminded" comment as the first line instead), otherwise you may miss some people giving you advice. Something like "Hong Kong flights and accommodation recommendations" may be a better heading - if you need a Moderator to change (outside 24 hours), then either PM us or "report a post" (your first post) with your desired change of heading.

I've gotta ask, is there any particular reason why you won't fly either Airbuses or the B787?

B787's have been relatively incident free for the majority of this year, and whilst the grounding did nothing for their reputation, all aircraft types undergo a teething period.
Airbuses have had some high profile incidents, but nothing more or less than what other types have experienced.

It's the operating airline which you need to be careful of, not the type of plane (since any decent airline won't purchase unsafe aircraft types), and I doubt you'd find one to avoid between BNE and HKG...

Thanks for the hotel advice. Will look them up. The VS flight I believe, as others has posted was an Airbus.

There a a number of combination deviations without using any airbus, though just out of curiosity.. What is your issue with Airbus &/or B787?

It's a personal thing. Have you ever had that once in a lifetime feeling ? Well that's how I feel about Airbus & the new B787. I may change my likes & dislikes, but at my age, I don't think so.

Fair enough... It may just restrict your flying experience, destinations & comfort levels, being restrictive to certain Boeings, MD's & Embraer though. ;)

Budget?

Top of my list is Four Seasons. Great location, rooms, view, restaurants, pools, spa, staff, exec club..

Funny you should mention Embraer, I love the Embraer E190 (E90) Seat 2A. Taking a flight with it to Townsville (rtn) in June & have flown on it many a time in Brazil. Give the MD's a wide berth if I can, but since they are now Boeing I may just close my eyes and not look out the window. ;)
