Hi all
My mate and I recently both moved up to Silver status with velocity and took up the offer of discounted lounge membership.

However, I now have 2 X single visit passes to The Lounge which I can send to anyone that wants them HOWEVER, there are conditions on the vouchers that you need to be aware of before you ask for the passes.

1. To use the passes u MUST be a SILVER Velocity member
2. The passes can only be used to admit SILVER members, so if you are silver and your travel companion is red, then you can only use one pass for the silver member.
3. The expiry date of the passes is 31/12/08 and 31/1/09.
4. To gain access to the lounge you need to comply with usual conditions of entry including upon entry u need to show a) your SILVER membership card, b) your boarding pass for an onward Virgin Blue flight and c) surrender the pass.

Anyone interested can reply to this thread and I shall then provide my email address for you to forward your address etc.

:)

I cannot believe that no one is interested in these passes. The DJ lounges are quite nice. I guess there are not many DJ Silver members....

I would love to but unfortunately the stipulation that you have to be a silver does me out of getting them, however considering im planning to be silver by the end of November it might be an option...

If no-one else takes the offer up by mid October i'll have them!

Thanks again for the offer jad01

jso to the rescue.

I believe I fit the description of a silver member whose company won't fit the bill for lounge access.

And I did wander past the new lounge doors @ Sydney and wanted to have a peek inside.

Should be heading up to Townsville in the next 3-4 weeks.

Thanks

if you email me ([email protected]) your postal address then I can arrange getting the passes to you seeing you are the first eligible SILVER VELOCITY MEMBER candidate to put your hand up.

Hi Jad01

That's a really nice idea, and good on you for thinking of your fellow Silver travellers!

Unfortunately when Velocity issues you with a paper voucher to the Lounge (in your Welcome to Silver pack) we also put an eVoucher in the Lounge Management system - and that is the one that the friendly crew in the Lounge use to determine whether you've got a complimentary visit.

This means that transferring these paper vouchers to other Members will only result in disappointment for them as the eVoucher won't be in their system.

Hope that assists and I hope you are enjoying your Lounge membership.

PLEASE NOTE: The terms and conditions on the voucher do stipulate that the voucher is not transferable.

So what's the point of sending the pass to someone who is already a lounge member if they can't give it to someone else? This seems like an arbitrary and unnecessary restriction.

Hmm, I find this to be very strange, especially when jad01 was very careful to list all the terms and conditions. I would assume something like "non-transferable" would be clearly stamped on the voucher.

Sounds like another half thought out, half baked idea, just like the recent offer to QF Gold and PLat members to pay the lounge a visit that saw many including myself have some issues with getting what was on offer.

If Virgin are serious about getting business travellers then they need to start acting like a serious business, deliver on their promises which have clearly defined conditions and make sure their staff know about the promos in the first place.

Hi,

Every Velocity member that transitions to Silver gets a complimentary voucher to try the Lounge (a try before you buy offer).

The terms and conditions on the voucher stipulate that it isn't transferable and that it is a one off use for the Member receiving the voucher.

It's really as simple as that.

Cheers,

I never had issues accessing the lounge when I showed my QFF card.

(As for the unpubliciesd benefit some reported of a status upgrade on Velocity, though, I did not get. Maybe QF gold wasn't enough for such an offer!)

Me neither. My partner (plat) andmyself (gold) used the lounge offer and didnt get status matched like some others. Shame as if it had happened we would have moved moreof our flying to DJ as getting a bit fedup with QF delays etc recently.

I joined velocity recently, mainly after buying cash regular flights to LAX (and Vegas maybe one day???) and vatlantic. I'm well over the threshold for gold so I rang about the silver/gold upgrades from red. Despite the gent having my current balance before him, I was told an upgrade to silver or gold is only possible if I fly first on blue, polynesian and some other small airline. Is that right, namely I can't get silver or gold even if I transferred 200,000 points into velocity. Or do you buy membership (though 10 min from LAX is a nice yacht club that beats any lounge)

If you want status, then you need to spend money on Virgin Blue flights (not transfer points to Velocity). Points are for redeeming free flights, not for status.

How much money you need to spend with Virgin is here:
Velocity - Status Benefits

If you want to buy Lounge Membership, then you can do that separately if you wish. The cost is $369 in the first year, and $170/year after that. See: Virgin Blue - The Lounge
