I always thought Essendon was over the odds when it opened as a Cat. 3.

The Park Hyatt is a surprise and the HR Sydney should never have been Cat. 5

Of course, about the same time, Peak and Off peak rate are being introduced.

so the PH Melbourne would vary between 12K-15K-18K, so still at least 2K cheaper.

These changes have been deferred until next year.

Sad in relation to the Oz properties.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I notice there are no Cat 1's in AU now, with both Essendon Fields and Regency Perth listed as Cat 2's.

Separately, I received an email yesterday which stated there had been activity on my Hyatt points balance and was confused to see my balance increase by 30k. I had Award bookings for 6 nights coming up in May at Grand Hyatt Bali which when I booked was a Category 2. It now appears to have moved to a Category 1 (along with The Hyatt Regency in Nusa Dua). So as a result it appears they have refunded me 30k points (5k per night - I didn't have the base room of 8k per night). Was pleasantly surprised by that.

The recategorization never happened - 'cuz COVID!

Note the Sydney Park Hyatt has actually gone up a category ...

The Regency Sydney did drop to category 4, though and it's overdue, although its prices are still too high. I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few nights at off-peak for the remainder of the year. Even the Park has quite a number of off-peak and the majority are standard.
