And can't make money unless you are paying staff :) Seriously, I don't think there is any doubt that Clive knows how to make money. I am not sure he knows how to make money in hotels.

Housekeeping down from 30 to 10
2 gardeners for a resort that size

I see either a dump in the making, or contract positions taking over. Easier to screw contractors......

"CLIVE Palmer says there could be a casino at his resort at Coolum when it is revamped, but he will ban locals from going there."

Now silly me thought decisions on new casinos were made by the gov't, rather than resort owners! Oh yes, it's Clive who possibly thinks he's already in gov't ;).

Anyone else see a resemblance between Clive and our dearly departed "Minister for everything", Russ Hinze?

I think it's somewhat naieve to suggest governments make decisions.

Clive made his initial fortune in property development on the Gold Coast, not mining. I think he knows that Queensland property is bottoming out around now, so a good time to get back in.

Knew I should have been a lawyer!

BILLIONAIRE Clive Palmer's squeeze play on hapless timeshare investors at his Coolum Resort north of Brisbane has spilt over into another legal arena - this time the Takeovers Panel.
Palmer and a subsidiary of his Queensland Nickel Group, Queensland North Australia, have been accused of breaching the takeovers code in the takeover of the President's Club, an unlisted public company that owns timeshare stakes in 144 villas at the resort.
The accusations against Palmer are being made by the board of the President's Club - three out of four of which, and some of the investors, have been at odds with the Palmer interests for some time, as colleagues of Insider reported last month. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission is known to be watching events keenly, although it has not directly taken a stance in the Takeovers Panel application - yet.

To stop anyone else from ever being able to use them! A lot of businesses register names they don't use, just to stop possible competitors from using them......

Doesn't work that way. If you own a Trademark then you have to use it. If you aren't and someone else wants it, they can apply to have it deregistered for non-use.

The next 6 month's will be very interesting as they are starting to do some Advertising about some theme resturants. One of them is Titanic, it is based on the meals that where served on the titanic and also a Pub as well based on the Titanic. It had a big crash and then they made a movie about it. Maybe Clive wants to have a movie made after him just as Ch 9 is promoting a movie about Kerry Packer.

Clive Palmer is one of the best comic creations of all time. I'm increasingly convinced he's one of the Chaser guys in a pub sumo suit.

I've always thought what the sunshine coast needed was a casino and hovercraft port.

I think he's been to the Ryanair school of marketing....

Ah maybe he thinks he's a latter day Chistopher Skase. Perhaps the two Sheraton Mirage hovercrafts are still getting around somewhere! ;)

Lots of plans coming out in the media,

Has there been any work started at the resort apart from legal works against anyone who is standing in his way or has a issue with something.
