HX to terminate HKG-OOL/CNS on 28OCT18

HX are rumoured to be up for sale as HNA group struggles with asset sales to address ruinous debt levels
 
So no more CNS/HKG for them or just not via OOL?

It was a good thing as CX Y fares were usually around the $1100 mark, I guess from the competition of late been more like $750. Ive done this trip numerous times, do not understand why QF does not reenter this sector as the CX fights have been close to full.

I'm sure QF know more about loads than us but always thought Cairns would make a good entry or exit point from OZ to USA like they had moons ago. Many from USA could if they so wished mix business in capital cites and holiday before or after.
 
QF should try a CNS-HKG service (perhaps as a tag on a 2nd BNE service) to compete with CX.
 
Totally agree, they are missing out on lots of bums on seats.

I was inder the impression Australians hated tag flights.

I think it depends on the airline. CX - and AI when it was operating them - only offered domestic service on tag flights (no alcohol). I think SQ is different, offering full service on the tag to CBR?

That's a very broad generalisation. I have no issue with tag flights.

That said, I can see why HKG-OOL-CNS might not be such an attraction option for someone in Hong Kong that wishes to fly to Cairns.
 
As a tag from where? Surely it wouldn't justify a DXB direct.

Not known yet, it was on the local news couple times about Emirates inc. last week, the airport though is saying little other than "we are always talking to Int. airlines"
 
Well maybe DXB/CNS/BNE (or SYD)/DXB or reverse then onwards to from Europe, "FNQ" residents have been crying out for this for years.

Im not sure how many live in FNQ say a few million and recon to from USA with CNS as stopover has merit, as we tired of going via capital cities and departing at sparrow to go long haul to do it. Basically have a choice of CX period.
