Was Just wondering if anyone would love to share their knowledge and wisdom regarding any good day trips that can be organised from Hua Hin.
Ideally day tours that are inland from the coastline and cultural in nature.
Conversly, any tips on whats good and what to avoid in the Hua HIn Area would be greatly appreciated.

- Kaeng Krachan National Park
- Pala U Waterfall in Phetchaburi
- Vana Nava water jungle
- Black Mountain Water park (part of golf course complex)
- Phetchaburi palace and temples
- Huay Mongkol Temple with the Giant Buddha statue

The are also some cruises you can do.

Outside the Hilton there are some bars and restaurants. I used to love sitting in Mai Tai bar people watching in the afternoon with a jug of beer and ice.

We are there next month for 1 week and this time I am going to hire a car as it's cheaper than getting transport to/from golf.

We stayed at the Regency Hyatt Hua Hin six weeks ago, through Luxury Escapes, and really enjoyed staying there as we were given membership of the Regency Club and had soft drinks, tea, coffee and cake all day long and great canapies at night (didn't need dinner after that). However, we took advantage of our free shuttle trip into central Hua Hin in a very nice Mercedes Benz, which dropped us off into the middle of town, next to Starbucks and a Boots pharmac_. So we took off and went down the road on our right towards the night market area.

Quite frankly, we were very unimpressed. It wasn't clean, and the footpath kerbs were all a foot high, with a brick in them so that you'd have something to step on to go from down sidewalk down to the road. There wasn't anything malicious looking or scary there, but we just wanted the hour to go by as quickly as possible so that we could get back to our Merc and get back to the resort. The Blue Mall and Village Market out of town on the road where all the major resorts are, on were a better environment for us. Though a New Zealand couple we become friends with also did the trip into Hua Hin, only they went left rather than right, like we had, and they didn't think it was as bad as we described it.

The Cicada Market (night time arts and craft market) was great fun and lively walking around it on a Saturday night (it was just 5 minutes up the road from our resort). Much cleaner than central Hua Hin.

Just a note about getting back to Bangkok airport. The New Zealand couple left at 5am on the Saturday morning, and got to the airport in two hours.
We left at 3pm on that Saturday afternoon, and it took us four hours to get to the airport.
Regards,
Renato

Thanks JohnK & Renato1 for your tips and advice. I never been to Thailand - So have no real expectations, except for some great spicy Thai food and some sunshine. We are doing a Luxury escapes package that is 2 nights Bangkok, 6 nights Hua Hin staying at the Sheraton. looking for a combination of R&R plus some cultural sight-seeing.
