Hi all

My 30th is coming up in about 18 months and I want to be anywhere but at home/work/near my phone or a computer to be reminded about it. Im pretty quickly racking up velocity points and would be looking to burn them all for a trip somewhere nice for my 30th with my partner ex MEL. I'm guessing I'll have somewhere between 150 and 200K points to burn at that stage.

I have already been thinking where to go - happy to book 6 - 12 months out to get a decent deal. Original thought was to go to SFO but doubt with those points we could even get PE to LAX and dont want to spend thousands on a points + pay.

It's my understanding most pacific and S-EA routes dont have J - if there was a J option to somewhere like Vanuatu or Samoa that would be ideal, but VA Y on a 4+ hour leg somewhere in the South Pacific is not what I call a special occasion (did HKT-PER Y and it was horrid). Etihad Y does not interest me at all.

Easiest option would either be a J A330 to PER but thats a bit boring (and with max pay would only use, what, 40K points?). We have been to CNS 3 times (and love it up there) so a J direct flight would be a safe option but interested to know what other options spring to peoples minds for a 'i dont want to be 30 holiday'.

Wouldnt love to fly J, happy to burn all points but dont want to spend lots on a points + pay (LAX J points + pay is too much).

Love some suggestions!

Thanks

How about Broome? You could fly J MEL-PER on A330 then to Broome and stay at Cable Beach. Unfortuantely the PER-BME flight is Y only. It's 6,900 points + approx. $225 one way per person (or 110,000 points return each). Or the red centre? Not sure whether there are J flights, but you could stay at Longitude 131 if you wanted to splash out.

It's funny you say that because Broome was the very first place I thought to go as it seemed as far away and as obscure as I could get from being '30 and in Melbourne'!

We went to Uluru for my partners birthday.Evenning swim under the stars was great.Stayed in a rock view room at the Desert Gardens which was spacious and clean.
Flew J both ways, wasnt as good as I hoped as it was in the old PE E190 seating. We had the blocked off seat so when we sat together pax could sit in the spare seats while waiting for the toilet( I didnt care but my partner was getting annoyed the few times it happened).Planning on going back but not till the new J seating completed
