So AIRwin... How was Jetstar?

I've flown them on about 3 round trips in the last few months, 1 round trip on Qantas and a Virgin one coming up next weekend. Honestly, at the moment I feel like Jetstar has changed the least, no idea if it's a good thing or not but at least they've been consistent.

It was the first flight of the day so I thought there would be a good chance of at least an on time departure but no. Flight was full but there was no boarding by row, just announcements to observe social distancing so this took some time...

May be heading back to Tassie next month. If so it has to be JQ as they won't let me transit SYD or MEL.So JQ with their 2 BNE-LST services per week it has to be.Fortunately I start on a Monday and end on a Monday so their Sunday/Tuesday services fit perfectly.

Positive experience on Australia Day - ADL ground staff issued me with a boarding pass even though I had arrived an hour before check in opened (I didn't do it online as I wanted to request for a window seat) and flight arrived 20 minutes early...

Just received another JQ flight experience survey and the sender now appears as "Jetstar"

Flew Jetstar yesterday for the first time this year. The flight was uneventful however it was the first time I'd seen them charging people at the gate with a queue set up to capture everyone.

They had two scales set up on either side of the boarding queue and to get into the queue you had to have had your bag tagged (no one, even late stragglers was getting away with it). If your bag was under 7kg you were fine, if it was between 7-14kg you had to pay $65 on the spot via card (unless you had a bundle/add-on with extra hand luggage). They had a Commbank Albert Eftpos terminal (the tablet-looking one) and were doing everything on the spot.

I wonder if it's a wider Qantas group thing as I had my carry on weighed a few weeks ago before a Qantas Business class flight, despite just handing me a boarding pass for 1A the check-in staff even decided to tag it with a place this item under seat tag.

Mind you I'm all for the above measures, people who bring a kitchen sink onboard and then expect someone else to lift it into the locker are just being pains. I've managed to get the nail the fine art of a 7kg bag and so should they.

I’ve never had my hand luggage weighed departing Melbourne. Always weighed coming home from Cairns to Melbourne - every single time
