Hi
Looking at going to Melb for easter- the flights look ok at the moment- was going to book into flexi saver economy and then use points to upgrade to business both ways- the way over doesn't look like a problem but the way home the fare for business is flashing to say 'fewer than 5 seats left'- does that mean it is unlikely to get a points upgrade on the return??
thanks

You need to check available fares class on your preferred flights. Also all domestic economy fares are upgradable on Qantas. What flights?

Hey thanks for the reply!

thanks :)

Serfty to the rescue again. Sorry, I was going to find that link but got distracted.

Better to ask in the other thread but I can see.... No U fares on any of those flights, meaning immediately confirmed upgrade.

Otherwise for business MEL-PER:
QF773 J C D and I all 0
QF481 J9 C9 D8 I1
QF653 J7 C5 D2 I0

Best to get more detail in the other thread.

Not sure if this method still "works"....

A simplistic way to assess the possibility of a successful points upgrade is to try and book a Business Classic Award seat for the flight you want to upgrade on.

If there are no Business Classic Award seats available for the flight you want to upgrade on, your chances of success are probably low. Note that availability of a Classic Award doesn't necessarily mean you're a dead ringer for an upgrade on that flight.

Apart from that, the linked thread by serfty is also good - checking the fare buckets in Business to see what the numbers are like.
