This has been a topic of discussion so many times... and here it goes again...

I want gold status... im 175 status credits away from it, with only short time to do some " pointless " but ever so important Status flying...

Does anyone know of the cheapest, and quickest way to obtain 175 SC's. ( lets not all say ' you can only get SC's by flying..' this i already know)

Any thing anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated :)

Where are you based? Do you have any trips coming up between now and the end of your membership year? When does it need to be done by?

Yeah; what Flashware said;

1 suggestion;

Go to NZ on Lan Chile; that will get 160SCs fast.

or ask Serfty; but you need to give us some clues.

Presumably your expiry is September 30th.

There are variables: Start Point, Timeframe, Budget.

Here's a two day method:

Fly MEL/BNE/SYD to LAX/SFO - ~$1250 currently (look far a cheaper sale price in the next week or so). That's 90 SC's.

Fly YUP fare LAX/SFOvv for AUD396 for another 120SC's. (Book on AA's OZ portal)

Arrive, fly YUP and depart the US same day!

There you go! 210 SC's in 48hours for $1700.

My bad... i should have been more specific.

Im based in Melbourne.

Need to be done by Sunday 6th of Sept. I have lots of international flights comming up, two of which are next week, all booked with Qantas. But they do not want to help... meanies.. (other words come to mind but are not appropriate i dont think) After all it is us FF's that kept them from making a loss last financial year... do we even get a thank you... NOPE... anyway that discussion is for another post.

Like i said, based in Melb, have between wed 1st till the sun 6th to fly.

Thought about LAN to AKL but ive heard bad things about them cancelling flights often, i dont want to be stuck in AKL... theres nothing to do there!

Im flying to the states on monday 7th ( his flight ive already accounted for) all in all, at present i need 220 sc's for gold ( ive had a lazy year and im not happy about it) after my flight to LAX ill need 175 sc's

I cant do any flying after the 7th cause of work but like i said up untill the 6th i have off...

+1 for SYD-AKL on LAN J class = 160SC plus 20 for a return red e-deal MEL-SYS-MEL and you have 180SCs.

With that timeframe, probably will be the best option. *class on JQ to/from HNL or Japan would be an option too.

Im flying to the states on monday 7th ...
How long are you in the USA for? Can you find a spare day?

You can do the QF93/QF94 Turnaround on Saturday, arriving back into MEL on Monday morning (ready to return).

The YUPs are available on AA581 departing Noon, returning on AA2246, arriving back to LAX 5:50pm.

im in the USA for 8 days and ill have 2 free.... is there a reasonably cheap AA deal that might help?

Which part; neither Serfty or I are mind readers. ;)

Yes Serfty can help.

If you're going to mainly fly with QF, AA, BA or JQ in the upcoming membership year, you might want to consider just purchasing a QP membership rather than spending >$1K to requal for SG.

Easy then - do the above YUP to SFO vv twice but travel in coach on one of the four segments. You'll earn at least 180 SC's at a cost from AUD700.

Of course, you could head up to Seattle for a look on an AA codeshare on Alaskan airlines for AUD870 and earn 180 SC's for the r/t. (*Make sure you book on the AA flight number.)

My preference would have been the LAN return J with a connection from MEL to easily net the 175 SC (and a tiny bit more) that you need.

I've "heard" about the LA cancellation reports too but I've flown LA J SYD/AKL a handful of times now with no dramas.

If you're taking this option, you can turn 180 SCs in to 300 SCs quite easily by connecting in SFO. Takes only a little while longer and is the same fare.

really... damn i thought with Serftys vast skills, mind reading would be one !!! :P

LAX is where i am/will be

 Good one;

But they only need 175SC so for the extra hassle I wouldn't bother.

Go SYD-CBR Business return - 80 SC approx $650 return.
Pretty good in my opinion and only 55 mins flying time!
