Hi All

Very strange question i know but, i have a wedding in UK in September which we want to book flights for now. We have a baby due at the end of April (which would be coming with us) but to make a booking it wants the DOB and name of the infant - which we don't know yet

I can get a Flight now for the three of us for about $4500 but if i wait til May then prices will be more. Would obviously want a bassinet seat too, so was wondering if anyone has any advice how i can go about this?

Would Qantas allow me to make a name change on an infant seat booking?

Thanks all

When you say the three of you are you meaning yourself and partner plus unborn baby? Remember the little one doesn't need to purchase a seat until he/she is 2 years of age so essentially you are buying 2 seats now, then once baby is born call up QF and get him/her added. With a child that young you will more than likely be allocated a bassinet seat.

Has to purchase a ticket though

Infants are not free on International flights, as mentioned a ticket needs to be purchased at 10% of the applicable fare in most cases.

Ya I wasn't implying they traveled free, just making the OP aware (if he/she was not already) that there is no need to buy a separate seat for the little one. OFC the baby has to be ticketed, just doesn't need the actual seat.

Probably should have worded the reply more clearly.

You cannot book now for junior, just make a booking for the adults and add junior after birth by calling QF. This is clear on the QF page:

Travelling with Infants | Qantas

Firstly, congrats in advance for your new arrival. :)

As markis10 suggested, you will need to contact us once bub is born. You may also find this page useful for planning purposes: Children and Infants | Qantas.

Looking forward to having you and your family on board later this year, however please do let me know if you require assistance in making this booking.
