Hey everyone,

I have a few questions.

1. I have booked a trip for my mum for her 60th Birthday to Paris in May, she is flying Business class for the first time on Emirates the whole way (booked through emirates with an EK number, can't recall if its a QF codeshare, presume it would be) so yes how nice is her 22y.o. son? My question is, she is a Qantas Bronze, does maybe 2 international flights a year in Y...What lounge will she be able to use in Sydney? Is it possible to access the Qantas lounge? And if so I am trying to make this an extra special trip, where do you think I could look for a guest pass / invite to the First Class lounge? (she will probably never experience it except maybe now!!)

2. From this trip she will earn enough SC to go from Bronze to Gold. As I said, she only does maybe 2 trips a year max so Gold would be a waste really. I am a lowly Qantas Club Bronze member as I currently have VA Platinum and dont think I could handle being treated like a pleb to get to gold with Qantas! They wont match me so my mother gracefully offered for me to put my FF number down on her flight and get the points and SC credited to my account. My question is - is Emirates smart enough that they will check what Qantas account it is going to and if it was under mine would I receive the SC and points even though my mum is flying? I know in the past Etihad have credited me SC + points for mates flights that I have bought when flying on VA but some other airlines don't...I dont want to waste these SCs so would rather see her receive a shiny gold card than nothing in mine!

Thanks for your help!!!

If you booked a flight through EK it will not be a QF codeshare.
Your mother will be able to earn Skywards points so sign her up for that.
She will be able to access the QF Business lounge and the EK lounge at SYD.
It is not possible even if the flight was booked on a QF codeshare for you to get her points and SC. The name and number must match the passenger flying.

And yes you are very nice spoiling your mum :)

Ok we will put her EK number in. Again, if I signed up would they put it in my account or again do they only put it in the name of the passenger?

Only the person flying gets the benefits from the flight, e.g. points and status credits.

... and being an international flight passport checks and other emigration will prevent a different name being used ...

Flying on an EK flight number you get QF points but do not get QF SC's

She will have lounge access due to the business class ticket
SYD-DXB could be an EK or QF aircraft, but more likley EK
DXB-CDG will be an EK aircraft

Alaska is another FFP where EK is a partner. Partners Overview | Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
