How much of a tight connection is this?

I am scheduled to be on BA781 (ARN-LHR) that arrives in London at 2015 and then taking BA031 (LHR-HKG) that takes off on 2115.

When I think about it now, that feels like quite a tight connection time -- especially considering I haven't been to London Heathrow before. I had my doubts by the ticket office (the airline itself!) said it was a legal connect so I ddin't argue with them.

Has anyone has experiences with a connect time like this in London? Is it reasonable?

What happens if the flight from Stockholm is delay and I end up missing my flight to HK??? Am I stranded?

You arrive and leave from Terminal 1.

I don't see it as a real issue, although as you say, it is tight and doesn't allow for too many hassles.

I'm assuming it's on the same ticket? You shouldn't have anything to worry about. BA will protect you in the case of a misconnect (There are 3 different flights heading to HKG from LHR each night, including one an hour after your flight is scheduled to leave).

Still, I strongly suggest good travel insurance to cover you in the event of a misconnect.

If you had to transfer to/from Terminal 4 then it might be a problem. But 1 hour for a connection that remains in Terminal 1 should be fine.

If i had an option to make the connection longer (either earlier ARN flight or later HKG flight) then I'd look to take it. 1 hour is fine when everything goes to plan but is nowhere near enough if any delays ensue.

1hr for a T1-T1 connection should be fine, especially at that time of day. being on a single ticketed itinery, then even if the arrival is late BA will just put you on a later flight.

I wouldn't worry about it at all

Thanks for all the advice guys.

When I booking this trip, I wasn't aware the LHR had some terminals that (according the the BA website) take more than an hour to get to.

I was given the option to take the later flight from LHR as mentioned above, but I chose to take the earlier flight becase waiting at airports is boring! 60 minutes seemed fair based on my knowledge of HKG, where 1 hr is enough to get from one side to the other with time to spare.

Anywayz, ticket has been issued and I don't want to pay the 1000hkd rebooking fee so I am just going to chance my arm.

Not actually chancing a thing, as you are on a single PNR and the MCT is met, you are protected, it is BA's arm that you are chancing.

Exxactly. As long as connections meet the legal minima, then I see no reason to fret over it since it is the airline's problem

Yesterday's experience at LHR:

QF29 HKG-LHR was 1:15 late landing due to a 30 min delay starting the engines in HKG (dead APU so needed more ground power than was first available) and congestion.

My schedule included 2:15 connection to my BA910 flight to FRA. SO that was now down to 1hr for a T4->T1 connection. When I got to Flight Connections centre and to the BA check-in desk, the agent commented that they were attempting to close out the flight, so I just made it in time. That was now 35 mins before scheduled departure.

In the end, the departure to FRA was delayed initially 30 mins (so time for some JW Blue in the BA lounge), and then a further 30 mins when we arrived at the gate, and then a further 50 mins waiting on the aircraft for ATC to allocate a slot.

So make sure you have some way to check-in for the second flight before you arrive at Flight Connections. My LHR-FRA flight was not open for check-in before I left Australia, and I tried to use BA.COM OLCI from both The Wing and the Qantas Club lounges but neither of their PCs would play the game - when selecting "Checkin Now" it opened a new window which just remained blank. So I had to wait until I got to Flight Connections to be able to check in.

NM provides a good example why in practice things may not go as smoothly as theory suggests. I have also had similar hassles checking in in transit at various airports including LHR when in theory shouldn't have been a problem.
