I would (& do), but for the overall WP benefits - not just "Anytime Access".... But I ask the question - would you spend $2000 of your own money to retain Platinum status for the benefits? Or as was noted in previous posts, for the benefit of obtaining Qantas Club lounge access when flying non-OneWorld airlines?
If you are right into flying as a passenger, WP can increase the comfort considerably (as noted in many posts within this thread).
So by spending some additional money and time doing what you like doing (whether $200/$2000 and a few hours/days for 30/600SC's) it's a win win for the hobby flyer.
As far as the main topic of this thread goes, a Qantas frequent flyer with SG status would generally be far far better off finishing a year with 1400SC* than finishing with 1370 SC's*.
