This post by ReLoad reminded me to start a thread asking: How many flights (not sectors) have you had paid for and ticketed at any one time?

Mine is 46 [EDIT: correction, 36; memory failed me again], last year (but it did include 4 x 20 min flights by float plane :) ) which was over half my total travel. A number of closely scheduled long work trips and two long itinerary international holiday trips.

What do you mean by "flights" as in if I fly MEL-SYD-LAX-JFK is that just one "flight"? What about its return?

Fair question. I regard a 'flight' as the complete route until you have a 24 hr or more break (a 'stop over' as usually defined) OR turn around and return home.

So if your MEL-SYD-LAX-JFK didn't have a 24 hr stop at any point in my definition its one 'flight'. Coming back is a second flight.

MEL-SYD-HKG with 26 hrs in HKG then HKG-YVR-JFK is 2 flights.

BUT SYD-MEL in the morning followed by MEL-SYD in the afternoon is 2 flights.

I know there's all sorts of 'what ifs' but its not worth debating too much about.

I have 16 "flights" booked at present, consisting of 33 sectors. The former is probably close to my record, the latter a fair bit short of my prime MASA days.

Silliest upcoming flight is probably HND-ICN-HKG-SYD-ADL-SYD-CBR in a tad under a day and a half.

That is silly - in true AFF style.

I usually buy as needed as quite often I don't have a confirmed itinerary too far out. Probably my record stands at about a dozen but currently it's only a half dozen. In fact, if I had to organised well enough to have 36 sectors booked in advance, I could see me going broke paying for the changes! I'm pretty much a spontaneous booker based around my clients (usually disorganised) needs. There is a downside to my booking method....that being turning up to the airport and forgetting where I'm going......that's happened to me a few times and all I can say, is thank goodness for efficient lounge angels who steer me to the right gate!

It varies ... I have just traveled through three, completing two.

I'll be traveling on three more by Tuesday.

The most for me 3 Flights for 12 sectors. Have never had the necessity for more than that.

I am a book it and fly type person so never more than probably one or two at the most.

Saves on changing flight fees.

And I generally will only book my return flight the day before I want to come home or on the day that I want to leave.

I had a day trip to SYD and I booked the trip down the week before but didn't book my return until I got to the Airport that night and got the next flight leaving for BNE.

Sometimes will book a safety flight which will be the last flight to leave that day due to SYD curfew issues. Might pay $100 for the flight but if can not leave due to weather will get a free night on either QF or VA.

I like to plan ahead:) 23

Wish I could but due to work reasons!!!(Self Employed) this can make it difficult.

A few years ago we where off to NAN for a week and there was a product launch which totally stuffed it all up. Trip was all cancelled and lost money.

.
Work has forced me to take as much as possible of my excess leave so I have taken 3 months off this year:)

Sounds like WP1 for KPC this year

Not a chance....my flights are spread across a number of carriers of both alliances, LCCs, and award flights.

(Self Employed)

Likewise, but that's why I book so far ahead... certain dates I have to be places each year, and I can't afford to have the tickets get more expensive later. So for me I guess the certainty is a substitute for the change fee.

I understand that as well.

I have a retail type business so my store is my key focus.

At one stage I probably had 20 or 30 flights but my focus was building our external part of the business.
