Just wondering what AFFers' recent experiences have been regarding timeframe for Velocity SCs and points to credit from SQ flights? Mr Jurahn headed off to London on Sunday night - PER-SIN then SIN-LHR - flights were booked through SQ (W fare class) and his VFF number was attached to the booking and printed on his boarding passes. No sign of points etc coming through yet, and I know the Velocity website says to allow 14 days - but just curious to find out what others' experience has been with SQ flights since the changeover to Sabre - whether the SCs and points usually do come through automatically, or whether we're likely to have to go down the "Claim Missing Points" route again once the 14 days is up ...

A long time after a lot of follow up for me.

Also flew fare class W SYD SIN NRT and return; flights from 16 Jan only posted to Velocity on 13th April...

Edit: I guess it's hard to say whether this was actually a post-Sabre experience, maybe I was just 'lucky' :)

Did push me over to WP though, so happy with that!

Oh cr*p, I was hoping for better news LOL. The SCs are pooling to me to help me retain Gold status, hence my interest! Hubby's away for 7 weeks, so I arranged to be an "authorised representative" on his Velocity account so I could start chasing them up well before he gets back, if necessary - and sounds like it might be :( .

Yeah, it took a fair bit of following up. I have heard others with more success than I had so you might be in the luckier bucket?

It happened for me very quickly. MEL-SIN-KIX-SIN-MEL flight on SQ week before last saw points and SC's posted the day following each leg.

Were your flights booked directly with SQ or as a codeshare through VA?

Directly with SQ

Thanks for that. It's what so hugely irritating and frustrating about the whole process - some people (like yourself) have points and SCs come through almost straight away, whilst others (like hubby) flying the same airline, still haven't had anything show up almost a week later. SQ obviously must send the info through pretty quickly if you received yours the day after, so why on earth does the Velocity system only seem to work for some and not others????

I've had to wait between 3-7 days generally to see SQ flights come up in my VA account. On one roundtrip PER-SIN-LHR I had the return leg from LHR-SIN not credit for some reason but at least with SQ the process to put in a missing miles claim is nice and straightforward.

Thanks Jozdemir - I'll give it until Mon/Tues and keep my fingers crossed! As you said, at least you can put in a claim via the website for SQ flights.

SQ normally credit the next day

are you sure it was actually a valid earn class?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes, the fare class was W so definitely valid for earn.

Are you a member of any other FFP that is a SQ partner ? If so if your FFN was in the PNR the points tend to go to that account even tho the VA FFN might have been on your boarding pass.

Just raise a retro claim online .. you get a answer normally within 72 hrs

No, hubby isn't a member of any other FFP, only Velocity, so there's no possible way the points could have gone to any other account.

I'll give Velocity until Monday, as that will have allowed 7 days for them to post - if nothing by then, I'll put in a retro claim through the website.

So with it definitely being a valid earn fare class, and no possibility of points/SCs going to another FFP, and seeing as SQ flights (for most) seem to credit almost straight away, the only thing I can think of that may have caused a "hiccup" is that hubby booked these fares in a sale late last year, which was pre-Sabre. On his booking on the SQ site, checkmytrip and everywhere else, the designation in front of his Velocity number was "DJ". When doing OLCI, his Velocity number was saved in the booking but he had to re-select Velocity/Virgin Australia from the drop-down list of FFPs below the number. Saved it, and all good. The DJ designation still came up on the boarding passes he printed at home for both flights - however when the staff reprinted his boarding passes at the airport (which SQ always seem to do anyway), the designation against his Velocity number printed as "VA". So I have no idea whether this may have somehow thrown a spanner in the system - or maybe it has nothing at all to do with it, and he's just going to be one of the unlucky ones that has to chase the SCs and points!

hi Jurahn,
I booked a flight on SQ pre-transition and flew just post transition (late January). The first flight out of Australia credited the next day, the remaining 3 took almost 3 months and a few follow up emails but did in the end credit correctly.

Unless you need the SCs soon for your re-qual, I'd wait a bit longer to save yourself the stress :)

I've never had them come earlier than 2 weeks, or even of their own volition. Every time I've had to make a claim recently (~8 flights) via the automated section on the VA website. They usually post within the next two days after I've made the claim though (and as this has occurred irrespective of whether I've waited 2 weeks or 4 weeks to make the claim I assume that it must be an issue of SQ not updating VA, once the claim is made VA seems to sort it out quite quickly).

Thanks for your posts Sunburnt and Grubbidok - I guess it's just with knowing how long it's taken for some people to finally get them to come through, I was wanting to get the ball rolling! Given the wide range of experiences (some posting the next day, some - like Grubbidok - having to put in manual claims), I wonder whether the Velocity upgrade this weekend will "fix" these sorts of issues? Although as Grubbidok said, their experience seems to indicate that it may be an issue with SQ not updating VA on some occasions.

There's also the possibility with Mr Jurahn's booking that the DJ designation appearing on the booking rather than VA might have caused a problem, so the Velocity rep on the forum (VFF) is very kindly looking into this for me.

My grateful thanks to Velocity rep VFF, as the SCs and points for hubby's flights have now credited. Now to wait and see what happens with the return flights in July!
