How does Hertz treat you

Today's car from Hertz was supposed to be a Sportage (no EVs available) but was given a Prado. Fine but it was only after I'd driven off that I realised that it would be worth more than $100k
I'd be surprised if that was the case, unless it was a fully optioned top of thr line model. I rented an Audi Q5 last week and it would have been worth somewhat less than that. Nice vehicle nontheless. None of that Asian penchant for having the vehicle try to drive itself against your will.

A quick google indicates that you're right and a new prado actually starts well under $100k. My car-dar is way off. I did like it but found the cruise control difficult to use and the side mirrors oddly narrow. Minor surmountable quibbles.

Not impressed with Hertz NZ. Booked a car out of Wellington for a few days then realised I had input the dates a month too early, february instead of March. So cancelled reservation and rebooked same car, same period oin March. The price more than doubled for the new period. Complained to Hertz and was told

"I do apologise for the confusion earlier. As stated we do not have a fixed rate. The only way you could get a confirmed fixed rate is if you book the vehicle in but if you make any changes after that, the changes will also affect the rate as you will be charged the rate at the time.

You initially booked for February and later checked the rates for March. Although the booking details remained the same, the rates were higher because March pricing applies to that period.

I hope this clarifies any confusion you may have. Should you have any further queries or need any further clarifications, please reach out."

I don't expect the price to more than double for a hire 28 days later.
Playing devils advocate here... We all know hotel airline etc pricing are subject to a level of dynamism - now it sucks ya got the dates wrong but yeah, you booked for a completely different time - there might be more demand then, there might be less of that particular class available, there might be events on.

Whilst it would have been nice for them to throw you a bone since you did rebook - I can also see their perspective.

My other suggestion is give them a ring - often the phone agents are more uh receptive to humanity (in my experience) - at least for Australia they are.
