How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

This is unusual. I thought Accor policy was to forgo the bond for Gold and above, or at worst a $1 preauth.
Yeh that seems excessive , 600, however the bonds are still charged at some properties definitely. The 25 hours in Darlinghurst was 100pn even as a platinum.

Is that a policy or just hotel by hotel? I mean I’ve always wondered when checking in that I didn’t have any preauth as plat but a colleague travelling with me did. Once at a mantra in cairns was explained that’s their policy.

Finding it more frequent now @henrus

2 years ago as Gold +, never had to leave cc for pending deposit, now every hotel in Australia and Asia have asked for it.
In Thailand, now Platinum, so far this trip asked for 4000THB ~ AUD 170 and Singapore SGD 100, both dropped off at check out.

I must admit I have an affinity for HIX pillows and took one or two with permission from the GM, then found out they come from a mob 10kms from where I live, mind you they charge $200 a pop

I usually grab the dental kits to hoard, for use on long haul flights.
Also, sometimes, the little shampoo and conditioner bottles (if the hotel still uses those), one of my team members likes to have them for the end-of-trip facilities at work.

Talking of up-market is Raffles Singapore worth it for a bucket list 3 night stay? It would be in January and about 12 hundred +++ a night but I do have about 100K points I could burn which would go a long way to settle the bill. We would top it off with SQ First back to Syd.
So have gone ahead and booked (cancellable) 3 nights in January 27 and was wondering what Platinum benefits they give.
Mainly breakfast and lounge access as eating and drinking is better value than an upgrade from the flashiest room I've ever stayed in.
Thanks Dr Bob

Is there a lounge there?

Putting some effort into posting my recent work trips here given how much I rely on the reviews in this thread for research!

Property: Mantra Ettalong Beach
Status: Explorer+ Gold
Room booked: Studio Spa Suite - Town-Hinterland View
Room upgraded/type: Yes, to 1 Bedroom Deluxe Suite - Pool-Ocean View (5th Floor)
Early check in/late out: Not requested, not needed.
Welcome drink: Unavailable here, given a discount for the club nextdoor which I did not attend ( don't much care for venues that profit off poker machines).
Welcome amenity: Bottle of relatively cheap De Bortoli wine and a 3 pack of snack bars with a handwritten note.
Recommend: Yes

I enjoyed my stay here, the view of the ocean was very nice to wake up to every morning, the bed and pillows were comfortable.
The couch was so small it felt somewhat pointless, I'm 178cm and it was too small for me to lay down and watch TV on by far, however still a nice inclusion.
I did however have a problem with my Spa not turning off which was very embarrassing to resolve. The staff were nice and offered to move me to another room however with a inferior view and TV. Ultimately after being showed the switch box jiggling it on and off seemed to fix the spa, however it was not repaired and not communicated it needed repairing for the rest of my stay, despite the staff saying that they would attempt to resolve whilst I was working and I could ask at the desk for status.

Property: The Watson Adelaide - Art Series
Status: Explorer+ Gold
Room booked: Studio Suite
Room upgraded/type: No, not offered.
Early check in/late out: Not offered, not needed
Welcome drink: Not offered, unsure if there is any available here.
Welcome amenity: Chocolate Nuts and a small bottle of Sparkling Shiraz with a printed note.
Recommend: Yes

This hotel was booked out but I managed to get access via the Accor Gold benefit. No mention of my status, no upgrade or drink offered, however the welcome amenity was nice.
It was comfortable, once again nice pillows and a comfortable bed (the most important thing for long work trips. There is also a cute park here which makes for a nice view, and it's outside of the city which helps with traffic in the morning in the Adelaide grid.

Property: BreakFree Adelaide
Status: Explorer+ Gold
Room booked: 1 Bedroom Apartment
Room upgraded/type: Yes, 2 Bedroom Apartment. Nice but probably not needed.
Early check in/late out: Not needed, not offered.
Welcome drink: Not offered, unsure if available here.
Welcome amenity: A bag of chips, a rather large kit kat, and a bottle of De Bortoli wine (I take these home for cooking). Actually enjoyed this!
Recommend: Yes

Once again no mention of my status or welcome drinks.
Only a couple nights here as the Watson wasn't available (not sure what happened to the Gold benefit that should have let me book it!), This is the next best thing for not being too center in the city for traffic purposes.
Older place, but the bed was pretty comfy. Unfortunately people walking past the window can be loud and I was woken up a couple times by this.

Property: Mercure Sydney Liverpool
Status: Explorer+ Gold
Room booked: Superior Room 1 King Bed and Spa
Room upgraded/type: No, emailed asking for upgrade or quiet room but email was ignored. My room is also next to the elevator which is not ideal.
Early check in/late out: Not needed not offered.
Welcome drink: Not mentioned at check-in.
Welcome amenity: One small container that usually contains 3 snack bars, however only has 2. No note, no drink.
Recommend: Maybe.

This stay represents my final stay on Gold, i'll hit platinum after this trip!
I feel no benefit to my loyalty at all at this hotel. No mention of my status, no offer of welcome drinks, I feel I have a poor choice of my room class having the one right next to the elevator, and a $5ish snack in the room as a welcome gift. As a frequent work traveler (4 nights a week, 3 weeks a month at this rate) I just value a quiet room.

Only a couple nights here as the Watson wasn't available (not sure what happened to the Gold benefit that should have let me book it!),
Probably a blackout date, hotels have these for events with the guarantee not applying. BTW that used to be a Holiday Inn, neighbours include the Adelaide Remand Centre!
