I initially planned to be here for the 1 night and used a SNU but had to add the night prior due to flight change. I booked a base room for this, counting on it being upgraded to the SNU 'Prestige Marina Bay' room - and it was.

Check-in was a PITA - on tablets. I knew with my 2 bookings (which I e-mailed them about, and was told they would be 'linked') would be an issue. I got some condescending young bloke who assured the old git that there wouldn't be a problem - but of course there was. Took longer than it should have to sort out, especially as I e-mailed them beforehand. ~1:1 helper to pax ratio - I wonder what they are saving.

The room was good (except for an aircon issue, which a prompt workman fixed in 20 mins) and the view was great.

A shub, but worse, a very wide lip to step over - a bathmat for the bath side and had to make sure a floor mat was on the slippery floor.

This hotel - any decent hotel, should be better than this

The lounge food offering was excellent, but the drinks just OK. But the worst thing were the kids - running uncontrollably, yelling etc; both nights. All the time. I put in a complaint about that, but never heard back.

The main pool was being renovated, but you could use the Pullman a few mins away. They would get you a Grab both ways, but it was only 5-7 mins walk.

I've had issues with this place in the past, but we now have each other's measure. My personal prefs finally made it to my profile at the hotel and I can get the exact room on each floor that is optimal for me - quiet, away from elevations, with a bit of a view. Room #11 or #12 at least on the higher, floors.

Valet parking used and vehicle delivered promptly both times.

For $177 this is excellent value in the Hobart CBD and minutes walk to the waterfront.

I stay either here or at the airport Pullman. I sent my usual e-mail the day before about room type request. At check in, assured quiet etc, high floor etc.

Bollocks. They managed to put me on the 29th floor but right beneath the gym (2903). So from 6:30am on it was thud, thud, thud of weights being dropped. Fed up with hotel staff allocating rooms when they have no idea of the hotel's own lay-out but then give assurance that they do.

Complained after breakfast and got moved to an executive suite. I didn't care about the suite, as long as it was quiet.

Later sent a terse e-mail to the 'customer experience manager' and I don't think (hope!) I'll have a problem again.

Exec lounge offerings OK - busy, so they had self-pour wines avail. Breakfast has a very good selection.

This place is really well located when coming in from the airport (right above Central station) its getting a bit long in the tooth.
