Thanked for my loyalty on check-in, then asked if I'd stayed there before... have done so 30-40 times...

Upgraded to the largest of the Deluxe configs, and nicest aspect with a view of the Bourke/Spencer intersection.

Welcome amenity a bag of chocolates with no wine in sight.

The towels and pillows are still well worn - presumably from the original 2021 opening - and need replacement. I gave them post-stay feedback a while back with no response.

Breakfast has scaled back again with less food out. The only Asian option was congee - previously they've had a veg curry and a few types of dumplings. They have also done away with the single serves of yoghurt/bircher in the fridge (near the Nespresso machine) and now have a few communal bowls for self service at the fruit station, which is now combined with the cold cuts and cheeses. I was still offered a free barista coffee though, am happy they haven't enhanced that...

Sub $200-250 I still think this is a good stay. Wouldn't stay for higher prices though.

How does it compare to the Pullman in the CBD?

How does it compare to the Pullman in the CBD?
Pullman has an executive lounge which is a nice perk if you have access included (either via room category or status). Evening canapes and breakfast cooked to order. Only negative is that they spam you before and throughout the stay with emails pushing to self-serve anything that might involve contact with a staff member. I would say it's slightly better than the Movenpick, but not substantially so.

How does it compare to the Pullman in the CBD?

I'll preface this by saying I haven't stayed at the Pullman in a few years, so things may have changed - but if memory serves correctly:

Movenpick benefits
  • Pool and sauna (Pullman doesn't have these I believe?)
  • Miss Mi offers better on-site F&B
  • Cheaper, usually
Pullman benefits
  • Base category rooms substantially bigger
  • Has proper 1BR suites (Movenpick 'suites' are a very large room)
  • Exec lounge
  • Location, arguably
  • Less street noise in rooms

Booked another 3 night stay at Raffles Jakarta for May and received the usual welcome letter and info.
Interestingly seems to be a slight “enhancement”

* From January 2026, all items in the Private Bar, including non-alcoholic beverages, will be chargeable for all guests

Soft drinks and juices were always free and replenished daily.

No big problem though as they look after us amazingly.
We booked the lowest room possible at around $240 per night and have already been advised we would get a Gallery suite worth around $700p/n. I dare say at check in we will get a further upgrade to the Garden Suite worth around $3800p/n.
They have also advised that they will arrange complimentary two way airport transfer which is around $60 each way.

I don't understand the mentality of a luxury brand doing this. Instead of cutting this cost, just charge another $10 or $20 to the room rate. Given the market segment, that price difference isn't going to impact people's decision to stay there or not. This kind of enhancement just kills goodwill of repeat customers.
