How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Ah thanks. They didn’t mention to me on check-in! And I didn’t need to ask for the upgrade but the hotel does not feel busy at all, hence the upgrade perhaps

I was keen to try this out, having a somewhat early flight out to Singapore the next morning.

It’s about 500 m from Virgin exit and maybe 700 m from international. There’s a shuttle for arrivals and departures but unless you anre arriving on Qantas, it’s pretty easy to walk there. Departures from the hotel to the airport are every 20 minutes 24/7 starting on the hour.

On arrival , you are first confronted with a bunch of tablets to check in on which I decline and it took a little while for a staff person to be available. No one was using the tablets.



My request for a quiet room away from the elevators was acknowledged and it all seemed good until I got to the room. Really hot. The room faced the afternoon sun. It was very hot. Aircon was one of those very simple control types so you don’t really know whether it’s working or not. After awhile a hand up to the vent showed no real air movement. I called up in the operator who immediately knew when I was talking about (it’s obviously a known issue) and they quickly changed me to a room on the top floor on the other side of the building. I asked about noise and was assure that it was a quiet room and anyway the rooms are soundproofed.

Ha ha. Lots of noise from aircraft arriving and departing but I decided to put up with it, with some earplugs.

Overall, staff were very good and no problem with the room but I think the issues on one side the hotel and the other means it’s not for me in the future. Parkroyal next time. I wonder if their prices have come down with the additional Accor competition.?

I haven’t tried the ibis but given they share the facilities on the ground floor it probably isn’t. I noticed that the rear of the Ibis faces away from the afternoon sun and the runways so that might be a good choice for me.

I’ve stayed at both and mostly the same however some nights the price difference is so minimal (less than $20) so I’d pick the Novotel as the rooms are a bit nicer.

The kiosks work ok but don’t issue drink vouchers (as last time they wanted a paper voucher) or give information on status benefits. Talking to the staff they say the kiosks are really helpful during delayed and cancelled flights when there are a lot of people arriving at once.

Interesting review @RooFlyer ,have stayed there 4 times now and never had an issue with air-conditioning or noise.
We usually face the runway right at the end of the corridor 6 and 7th floors.
We also decline the use of the tablets and check in with a human!
Agree staff very pleasant and accommodating- even pro actively offered discounted parking last visit.

The addition of Ibis and Novotel hasn't impacted Parkroyal pricing too much by the looks of it.
Works for us for the Accor benefits as we always have dinner there.

My sister (non guest) tells me she was given 90 minutes free parking to join our other sister (guest) for lunch, neither with ALL or Accor Plus.

It's affected pricing at Ibis budget Melbourne Airport though. Cannibalisation in action.

Recommend: Yes, especially for the price, with the caveat that it has a "lower tier" of amenities vs the Pullman and Sofitel in Adelaide.

This was my 2nd stay here at the Peppers, and I absolutely recommend it if you're looking for a nice room. Staff are lovely, and I was proactively upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite. There's tons of space, and the bed is very comfortable.




The bathroom is also big, and there is both a bath and a shower:



I stayed at the base room last year, and it's also very big for a city hotel, with lots of space for a desk.

The welcome gift was the exact same as the ones they're giving in the Pullman Melbourne City Center – I'm running out of people to dump all these Legacy Reds to...

There is a pool and a gym onsite.

The restaurant is very small, and breakfast was alright but didn't have great variety. It was essentially continental options with bacon, sausages, and baked beans. Eggs are made to order, but barista coffee is not included unless you're a Platinum member. Here's a typical example of the hot food:



As a (close-ish) point of comparison, the breakfast in the Novotel/Ibis in Melbourne Central is better (although the coffee here is nicer).

Along the same lines, the property doesn't have an Executive Lounge, and it also has a lower earn rate compared to standard Accor brands. I've seen the Pullman Adelaide be around the same price at times, so I'd look at that if an EL is important to you.
