How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Distinctly reminds me of the "Grand" Mercure on Maggie island. One of those places where the hotel pool is a subset of the apartments and the managers have a hard time getting the owners to pay for R&M.

It was a longish stay at the Novotel during a busy week for the hotel. The hotel was full for several nights. Check in late on a public holiday was quick and room service still available for a late dinner.
The room itself was very pleasant and suitable for business trips but not too much exciting to report. The décor is a little dated but everything worked as it should.
They have the option to skip the room being cleaned for two extra vouchers. We opted for that for several nights so had a few free drinks and coffees during our stay. We did get caught out on Sunday when the bar/restaurant is closed so had a spare voucher at the end of the stay.
The bar area is small and gets full quickly. Happy hour drinks are 4-6pm.
We had dinner in the restaurant for a few nights. The food was pretty good and
Breakfast was provided under our platinum status. It was not a big buffet but had everything you needed for a brekkie and was suited to the business travellers that were the main cohort of visitors. Some days pancakes and waffles were available.
Used the gym a couple of times but didn't have time to use the indoor pool/spa/sauna. There was a lot of people making the most of it.
The hotel is very well located with it being an easy walk to most things in central Canberra. Buses and tram was also easy to use from here to go further afield. Ubers were very quick when we needed them.
Overall a pleasant stay with no dramas. Which is what you need from most hotels.

Anyone stayed at the Pulman Adelaide recently?

We have a two night stay there next week, which includes breakfast. I am Accor Gold. We were thinking of eating one night in the restaurant, any thoughts on food and meals? Or should we book a dinner at the Sofitel restaurant?

A couple of stays recently and had dinner at Salt one of the nights and quite enjoyed it. Staff were great and food was very nice. Garçon Bleu at the Sofitel is nicer but no complaints with Salt. The menu should be on their website

Thanks @jase05, I will check out the menu. :)

The Stamford is much better for getting a room for a view (if you don’t mind the initial zoo that checkin can be).

I can relate to the last comment - stayed at Fairmont last visit, Ibis Bencoolen in November…😔 if we don’t find something better between now and then.

I've not been back since they started self-checkin, however have seen that if you have a club room, or access via status, you can ask in the lobby to be checked in at the lounge instead. Very much looking forward to my short stays there in August... 3 & 2 nights in a Crest Suite, either side of a week in Langkawi :)

Cheers,
Matt.

Property: Swissôtel Sydney
Status: Platinum
Room booked: Premier Twin Room, 2 Double Beds
Room upgraded/type: Think so (Mrs MattA checked in as she was already in Sydney for work; I arrived late in the evening from MEL with the kids). Room had a sofa bed in addition to the 2 dbls, so I think it’s a bigger room than the premier twin we booked. Also level 21 so the highest floor before the exec suites.
Rate: $870 for 3 nights (originally booked a month(ish) out at $980, cancelled and rebooked twice as the rate came down—I’ve got into the habit of booking the cancellable rate, then saving the search as a bookmark and periodically checking for a better deal).
Free internet: Yes.
Free Breakfast: Yes, as Platinum, in the executive lounge.
Early check in/late out: Mrs MattA checked in around 12. Late checkout granted on request to 1pm.
Welcome drink: Yes, two vouchers, used in lobby bar for house red.
Welcome gift: Yes. Platter of fruits/nuts, plus water delivered to the room.

First time at the Swissôtel and really happy with everything. Great location right in the heart of the CBD next to Myer and the Westfield. Staff very accommodating: we’d lost our pram in Friday’s SYD flight chaos and the concierge lent us one until ours arrived.

Breakfast in the lounge: basic buffet, but did the job. Staff happy to take coffee orders via the restaurant downstairs instead of having to use the machine.

No carpark view but just caught the edge of the Darling Harbour Saturday night fireworks.

All in all this was a very pleasant experience and would recommend.

I really like the Swissotel for location in the cbd , close to transport, trams etc, shopping. Good location for theatre shows and the staff are very pleasant.
You got a good rate.

Thanks for the report on the Swissotel Sydney. I have a stay there next week and have booked a Signature Skyline King with lounge access, so will be interesting to see if any upgrade is given. Usually stay at the Hilton around the corner but they are a bit pricey for a weekend booking

Spent six nights here, very convenient location (across the road from Gloucester Road tube station) and located in a pleasant area of central London. Hotel seems to have been fairly recently updated and the decor has a London Underground aesthetic. The room itself was fairly tight, as expected, but sufficient for our needs. Bathroom also small and not really anywhere to place toiletries - a small shelf near the basin would have been quite welcome. Staff were pleasant enough though it was quite busy when we checked in and there is no reception desk to speak of - staff use high tables in the lobby as a sort of hotdesk. I suppose this saves space but it's a little chaotic. Overall reasonable value for the price we paid, and I'd probably stay here again.
