How do you store your wine [+ Fridge/Cabinet recommendations]

I bought a Lecavist 168 bottle or so wine fridge in January for 1800 dollars delivered. Considering anything else in that range is 6-8k i was happy they offered this product.

The fridge sits in my room fully loaded up, it runs quiet, there is no clicking although now and then the compress has a slight whirr but nothing which triggers any part of OCD inside me.
The owner there is always good with communication and no reason one should not buy.

Thenowair is another brand available in Melbourne(a company called Vine and Vault use it). Im about 12 months away from getting a house built and will be looking for a conditioner post handover as well.

I've been checking out different wine fridges for a while - size/space being the main issue. I was looking at getting something in the 50-60 bottles size. Thankfully, JB HiFi came through with an end of financial year special HiSense 46 bottle dual zone fridge, which is exactly the right size for the space we have in the family room. Coupled with a $150 gift voucher, it was a fantastic deal, and comes with a three year warranty.

It's been running for a week now, it's incredibly quiet (I can't hear it over the background noise in the kitchen/family room), and the only challenge for me, is buying more 'special' wine to store in it.

Trust me when I say in the not to distant future you'll be worrying about the lack of space :)

I know there’s a massive price premium but I’ve had 2 smaller vintec’s and they’ve been rock solid for close to 1 years. About to fork out for one of the bigger ones as getting sick of offsite storage fees and the inconvenience factor.

I have a Plan B in place, which is to keep the existing racks in the bottom of the wardrobe in the middle bedroom, the current "cellar". That gives me another four dozen bottles capacity.

I've got a smaller hisense as well. Found a trick to squeezing an extra bottle per shelf :). Also position the labels facing sides so they don't scratch on the upper shelf.

I run a piece of timber that’s been cut to the right height/width under the neck where they Criscross and then Add another under each layer.

Don’t look at the base vintecs they do not fit anything above classic Bordeaux (as you may be aware..) invest in Grand Cru, or the premium vintecs.. they are not cheap by any means though. We have three 155 vintecs and they cough me after three years.. shelves bow, difficult to fit and have re,over some single rows to fit larger ones.

Get a grand cru or Euro Cave’ if budget suits.. fits all bottles and shelving looks to be awesome. We only have Vintecs. They are ok but struggle with the different sizes..

Good cellar and stocked up.. what do you use for inventory management? I use the vintec one. it’s awesome..

I and many I know use Cellartracker.
Just customise it to suit your needs and it becomes very practical.
For example, you can set it up for multiple fridges and shelves within those fridges.
Yeah that sounds very similar and effective. 👍

IMG_5058.jpegUgh. Opened my Vintec today to discover white mould growing on bottles and shelves.

The internet tells me it isn’t that uncommon, but it’s annoying and a bit gross.

Have cleaned everything with vinegar and will reduce the temp (it was at 12). Any other tips??

12 is too cold IMO set at 14 -16 deg. is it an old fridge cellar? How long has it been happening? Email Electrolux to check what May be done to eliminate.. mine are 3 years old and definitely don’t have that problem..

It's fairly new - about 18 months old. It's the first time I've noticed it.
The Vintec website had instructions on cleaning with vinegar (as did other websites).
Very common. Wouldn’t worry about it at all. You’ve taken the right steps.
Good to know. I'm also going to let everything air out for a few weeks before using the fridge again.

I'd also say, don't go colder. Do you know what the humidity levels are at?

Also is 12C the set temperature or the actual temperature?
