How do I get 500 SC before 31 Jul 09? (Conditions apply)

For the life of me I can't work out how to work out how many SC are earn't SYD - KIX as it is not a Qantas route and so it won't work in the calculator???

The SCs earnt will depend on whether or not QF actually get the calculation of SCs "correct according to the rules".

JQ19 (JQ20) SYD-KIX (KIX-SYD) go via OOL, but according to the rules if the flight number stays the same, then it is one flight and SCs are based on the distance between origin and destination of the one flight, i.e. in this case SYD and KIX. Using Great Circle Mapper, the GCM of SYD-KIX is 4815 mi.

This just falls into zone 6 of the QF Status Credit Earning Table; *C earns the same as J so the status credits in this case will be 140 SC.

When I flew JQ19 and JQ20 in January, they didn't credit straight away and for purposes that will not be explained here, I called QF who forced through the crediting of the status credits for those flights. They credited them "mistakenly" as SYD-OOL, then OOL-KIX, and vv. Hence I ended up with 160 SC for a SYD/KIX flight (40 SC for SYD/OOL and 120 SC for OOL/KIX).

Expect to get at least 140 SC for each one-way trip, or 280 SC for the return. Any "miscrediting" will be a bonus. :)

I have added capsule hotels to the list of things never to be attempted in life like parachuting, snow skiing, hang gliding, abseiling, base jumping etc etc....

Not including the capsule hotel I have done 3/5 of those, and would like to try the other two in the future, if possible.

Late to this and not a lot of time; fly to LAX on one of the current specials for $1K - there's 90 SC's

Once in LAX, fly to ATL return for ~AUD1600, easy to get another 410 SC.

can be done in 4 days.

John K,
Red eyes from Perth to Sydney are on 747's, well, last time l did one.
Yes they were but they were 747-300's and they were also domestic flights.

The discussion moved over to international terminal and F lounge and I was referring to domestic flights from international terminals and more specifically to the 747-400's used for QF74 SYD-MEL and QF73 MEL-SYD. The only realistic, obviously excluding Jetstar for various reasons, options of domestic flights from international termimals is the A330 used for QF81 SYD-ADL and QF82 ADL-SYD and also QF19 SYD-BNE on Thursdays but that may still be a 767.

Sorry to dig up my own old thread but I just thought that I would pass on that I made it!

A couple of trips to see family in Launceston (via Melbourne) and Melbourne, some extra work trips to Darwin and Rockhampton, a holiday with the missus to Ayres Rock (via Alice Springs with an op up on the way home) and a final hoorah of a holiday to coughet flying J* Starclass.

I well and truly made it without having to do any flights just for the sake of earning SC's. Although I did get questioned by the missus why we fly via Melbourne to get to Launceston when we could go direct and the same for Ayres Rock via Alice Springs.

Now I just need to get a look in the F lounge...

If you fly any OneWorld airline (will be from Sydney), does that get you access to the F Lounge or must it be Qantas? Does it work for J* International too? So much to learn.

In Darwin at the moment so my next flight will be back to Sydney but I am looking at the LAN J sale to Auckland for a weekend away and later this year taking advantage of the QF PE sale to LAX (only 45000 to upgrade to J and would hopefully get it.

Thanks once again for all your advice and like I have said previously, I travel alone for work so happy to host into Syd J lounge and Darwin QP if the dates align.

Welcome to the WP world.

Flying internationally out of SYD/MEL on any oneworld airline will gain a oneworld emerald access to the rather nice Qantas First Class lounges.

Flying internationally out of SYD/MEL on Jetstar will gain a QF WP access to said lounges as well.
