Looking at SYD-LAX, then LAX-BNE in May. When I look up the QF site it says the jet is 747-400. But when I look at seat maps QF offer a variety.
How can I find which actual configuration is being used.

Any preferences for Y seats ( discount sale fare no no upgrades :( )

What classes are being sold on the routes you are looking at?

Look at the front row number of economy in 3-4-3 seat configuration and compare against each of the maps.

That should reduce the possible options.

Then look for further differences.
