How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Property: Hilton Cairo Grand Nile
Room booked: King Guest
Status: Diamond
Rate: 30K points (x3 nights)
Received: King 1Bed Suite with Nile View
Amenity: fruit bowl & Egyptian snacks
Breakfast: Full hot including espresso coffee
Lounge: Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages
Con: Dry hotel

Over the top diamond recognition. Pretty much had the entire executive team lined up in a row to shake my hand including the manager who personally welcomed me and thanked me for my loyalty to Hilton.

Service at the hotel is top notch, it is an old school luxury hotel with a soft product that can’t be faulted although it’s getting a little dated (not really in the rooms though).

Suite has an unadvertised pyramids view which was a nice surprise. Only con (and I didn’t even notice until the second day) it’s a dry hotel, but concierge sent me over to the Four Seasons next door where I had the opportunity to pay A$30 for a single G&T. No pork on the menu either.

Interesting! When I used to stay at the Conrad, it wasn't dry.... in either the EL or the restaurants.

I get the impression Cairo has gone rapidly downhill. The Egyptian pound is practically worthless - a decade ago it was worth 20c Aus, now it’s 3c.

Conrad is long gone, I saw a Crockfords yesterday which I don’t remember seeing on the Hilton app, but it’s unrelated to Hilton (I was thinking of Crockfords in Vegas - they are related but through Genting the casino business, not Hilton).

Apparently Hilton Ramases has a bar but their executive lounge is dry. I think it’s just a case of alcohol being really expensive in Egypt.

I’ve not seen many westerners in the hotel, mostly wealthy Arabs.

Property: Hilton Amman
Room booked: King Guest
Status: Diamond
Rate: 112 JOD ($240)
Received: King Junior Suite
Amenity: Nil
Breakfast: Full hot, machine espresso coffee
Lounge: Did not attend (looks like you have to buy your own drinks)

A very nice hotel, free valet parking. It is not dry but alcohol prices are hefty. I saw a happy hour in the lounge advertised as 20% off drinks so sounds like you don’t get free drinks. Unfortunately due to a flight delay I arrived after this time. There was no breakfast in the lounge (and the lounge wasn’t even mentioned to me by the front desk) so wouldn’t be surprised if it’s effectively closed and they are just using as another paid location. Tourism in Jordan has plummeted and my next Hilton in Jordon says they have closed their lounge.

Unusual for a Hilton the breakfast did not really include any western options other than an egg station and pastries. I didn’t mind as the omelette was very good.

Don't ask me about my experience there.. it's one of my absolutely avoid hotels.

Had 2 free drinks each, at least. EL was closed when we visited 2 years ago.

Conrad Bali.
3 base rooms, recieved Conrad pool suite and 2 Conrad suites and lounge benefits. 5 nights stay.

Always excellent to diamonds, lots of staff turnover in management level lately. Also seems like the lounge is not only for diamonds. Suites no longer reference lounge benefits. I do wonder if it will be phased out entirely soon.

I’ll bite… what happened?
App confirmed an upgrade to a suite, then when we checked in back to a base room. Lots of arguing at the front desk and they wouldn't even give us an Exec Room. They were total dicks about it though. We weren't the only ones having a similar argument with them ....
