To us mere mortals who think we’ve stayed enough at HSYD to receive royalty treatment, someone I know just showed me this 😲 - gift voucher given for milestone stay and what a milestone that was!

At average 4 nights/stay, that’s almost 4 solid years spent at HSYD!!!

I hope that resident GM Ronald Van Weezel at least shouted him a free breakfast coffee in Glass in appreciation. 😃

One thing I do know is coffee tax is never applicable to this person. ;)

Something I need to add, the newly renovated relaxation room and suites have not been released into stock yet. I probably shouldn’t have shared the pics either but guess it’s too late.

Property: DoubleTree Hilton Kuala Lumpur
Booked: King Bed Guest Room
Received: King Executive Suite
Status: Diamond
Rate: $168 per night x 1

Got the usual 2 bottles of water plus the cookie (why is it always nice and soft everywhere but home?)
Had a complimentary fruit and cheese platter sent to my room about 30 minutes after check-in which was appreciated asI hadn't eaten anything all day.

I like this hotel, I stay here whenever I come to KL for business.
Had a change of plans which meant I had to fly to Sarawak for a few days (initially booked 3 nights).

The guys at the hotel rescheduled my booking, cancelling the first two nights at no charge.
I got a decent room upgrade and found the exec lounge staff to be very helpful.

Unreal, surely it gets to a point where it's cheaper to buy an apartment? 😜

Hilton Beverly Hills?
Not cheap to stay there so have booked the basic room, in the old wing which is apparently basic; anyone had "diamond" experience?

Stayed there a few years back, twice. No upgrade for diamond on those occasions. Got what I paid for. No EL. My USA experience is that Hiltons are stingy on upgrades generally.

Have to agree, Hilton experience in the US is far lower than Asia, Europe or Aus/NZ.
I was gold when I last went through the US but in some places I wasn't even given the waters (particularly Hampton Inns and the like).

Thanks, I'll lower my expectations. I noticed no EL when I booked, bit pov but seem to be the norm.
Regarding USA experience, you may be right generally unfortunately, however about the best upgrade I've ever got was at the Waldorf NYC, an apartment in the Towers. Now closed.

Property: Hilton Portland Downtown
Booked: 1 King Bed (conference rate)
Received: 1 King Bed (allegedly upgraded to higher floor/view of the mountains behind Portland)
Status: Diamond
Rate: $211/night x 1 night (conference rate)

2 bottles of water in room, breakfast credit at the bar downstairs IIRC.

It was a very small room, reminiscent of Tokyo hotel rooms!

Property: The Duniway by Hilton, Portland
Booked: King Bed
Received: King Bed
Status: Diamond
Rate: $211/night x 3 nights (conference rate)

Last time I went to this conference, I was upgraded from the Hilton to the Duniway and loved it. When the Hilton room block sold out, I booked the Duniway, but could not get in on the conference rate for my first night, so I stayed at the Hilton. I think the non-conference rate was available online, and in hindsight, I should have booked it.

Really enjoy the Duniway, doesn't feel as cookie cutter as most American chain hotels. Jackrabbit restaurant is great, the bar is nice, one of the concierges worked in Mackay at some point in his life, so is attuned to Aussie accents. :p

Two bottles of water in room, empty mini bar fridge, a small sofa and spacious bathroom. Unique room decorations and nice vibe, without feeling "I'm too funky for you".

Property: Hilton Alexandria Old Town, VA (outside Washington DC)
Booked: King Bed
Received: King Bed
Status: Diamond
Rate: $190/night x two nights on average (there were different rates but I don't recall)

Two bottles of water in room, breakfast free, included omelettes made to order (only had one breakfast due to a 7am flight on my second morning). Starbucks in the lobby. More spacious than the Portland Hilton. I had views of the King St Metro station and George Washington Masonic Memorial, but luckily limited noise from the metro. Great location for getting into DC without paying DC prices, with King St metro right next door. There's a Whole Foods a few blocks away, as well as King St and Prince St shopping and restaurants. Good location, enthusiastic staff, but I need to chase up my points as they haven't posted to HHonors yet.

The old wing is not great, rooms are at ground level so no view and there’s noise from cars keep coming up the driveway. It’s a average hotel, I wouldn’t stay there again unless the price significantly cheaper than other hotels in the area. Hope you get a good upgrade.

Property: H Curio, LAX
Booked: Deluxe King Airport View
Received: Deluxe King Airport View
Status: Diamond
Rate: $196 x 1 night

Two bottles of water in room, no upgrade as I think I booked the highest room type. Shouldn't have bothered for such a short visit, but it did provide lovely views of the LAX sign after I arrived. A bit of a struggle to find the shuttle bus at LAX (on the departures level - of course, that's where arrivals should be picked up!), my flight landed at 10pm, bags were on the carousel when I got to T5 from the Eagle's nest, and I arrived at the hotel at about 11pm. Homewood Suites is co-located in the same building.

Surprisingly spacious room, two sinks in the bathroom, separate door for the loo, and large shower (not a shub) that you turn on at one end so that you don't get wet and cold turning it on.

At 11pm, the bar is closed, but there's a variety of offerings from a snack bar setup that you can purchase from the front desk. Frozen meals, ice creams, chips, cookies, lollies, some wines and beers.
I had a breakfast credit of $15 or so as a Diamond; I was able to get an omelette with fruit for that amount. Tipped the server with a room charge.

I left my luggage there after checking out, and walked to Avis to pick up my hire car. Easy trip back. By this time, the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and Subway at the bottom of the hotel were open.

I didn't mind the noise as it helped block out the constant ringing in my ears. So maybe the added wall in the middle helped absorb it or they have added some sound deadening to the wall.
You haven't shown a photo of how the bathroom looks from the room.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE is life.

Property: Hilton Garden Inn, Singapore
Booked: King guest room

Newish hotel in Little India. Plenty of indian restaurants about (as you would expect). Convenient to Johor Besar and Little India MRTs. 7-11 at base of building. Somewhat colourful neighborhood - if you are expecting Singapore sterility, prepare to be disappointed.

Room - small! Unsure of my 'deluxe' upgrade - I can't imagine a smaller room. There is something seriously wrong with the electronics in the room I stayed at - to turn off the lights required a masters degree, and was not reproducible. Several times the switch had to be hit multiple times in certain orders. The "make up room" light was unable to be turned off - super annoying since I decline housekeeping in hotels for environmental reasons. Several light switches had a delay. Very disconcerting.

Diamond amenity - 2 bottles of water. When I didn't use them, they added 2 more every day. Got slightly ridiculous after a while.

Breakfast - surprisingly good. Egg station with all the usual hot western options. Indian station with curries and breads. Fruit, yoghurt, sweets, etc. Percolated coffee again surprisingly good compared to normal hotel coffee.

Sleeping - well this place is not great. The windows appear poorly fitted and are not double glazed, so the noise from the street is very loud (even on 13th floor). The ambient light within the room is ridiculous - there's a pest controller box or similar under the bed with a huge green light on it which gives everything an eerie glow. The lights on the switches beside the bed are bright enough to cast shadows. I quite happily sleep with curtains open at home but this light was so bright I spent every night covering the lights with clothes and pillows.

Other - as usual there are coin operated washing machines and dryers - at an eye watering price of $10 per wash! And another $10 per dryer use. My clothes aren't worth $20!

Still feels weird turning left to Hilton rather than right to Le Meridian (my previous Starwood property of choice). Diamond amenity of 3 cute jars of peanuts. Bottled water provided (not used).

They have improved access to KL Sentral so you don't have to cross the street and wander through a car park. The Nu mall at the station is handy and has a good supermarket. Just beyond the mall, near the monorail station (next to Cozy hotel) is a self serve laundromat, 12MYR for wash and dry (take THAT HGI S'pore!), 26 and 24 mins for each.

Executive lounge - ample room while I was there during coughtail hours. Between breakfast, afternoon tea and coughtails you could get away with not buying anything foodwise if so inclined. I've been doing the keto thing lately - breakfast and coughtails had suitable food, arvo tea definitely not! Slight annoyance that a staff member from the spa was touting for business during afternoon tea while I was just trying to read a book.

Nope not a double post, went back after my KL break. Darn near identical - same upgrade. Lights still didn't work quite right, but at least the 'make up room' light wasn't stuck on!
