Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Property: Conrad Hong Kong
Booked: King Deluxe Room
Received: King Executive Peak Suite

Excellent diamond treatment as always at this property.
Was told we are lucky to score the last suite available for our two nights stay. There were none for sale on the app, at least for the first night.

Checked in late and missed happy hour but were still invited to the lounge and staff opened a bottle of wine for us, nice gesture.

Both exec lounge and breakfast restaurant were running on full capacity, clearly the hotel was heavily booked during our stay. It didn’t affect the service at all which was attentive and efficient as usual.

Since we already arrived late and were in no rush we decided to try the H1 shuttle bus from Hong Kong station that stops at Pacific Fair, short walk to the hotel. It was not good idea, the bus stops at 4 other locations on the way and takes way to long. Even if not in a hurry it’s an inconvenience and waste of time when the alternative is paying just 45 HKD for taxi/Uber direct to the hotel.

We must have been there on a similar timeframe - in our case last Friday to Monday (3 nights). We booked a King Deluxe (Peak view) and were upgraded to an Executive King (Peak view) on the 59th floor. I share your views. It remains a very good hotel.

It was extremely busy because of the holiday weekend so much so that on the Friday night we had to queue for a few minutes to get into the lounge. We noticed when we left there were still 20 or so people waiting to get in and that was right on closing time. The same was repeated on the Saturday night (not for us - we got in early!) It was similar in the restaurant for the breakfast we had there.

It's a good 12 months since we were last there and the lounge staff was almost completely different. Food and booze standards remain very good and it is a pleasure to come back.

We arrived early, about 08:00 and were promised a room asap as the hotel was full. We were provided a room by 11:00 and given breakfast tokens.
Next day I asked for a late checkout and was offered 15:00 and was told to ask on the day to see if it could be extended further. 15:00 was fine.

This is probably one of the better "Gardens" with a pool, nice rooms, eggs or omelette cooked to order. They just need somebody to make coffee instead of the machine, then again you can't have it all.

Stayed here 1st Week of June this year, fab check in service received and recognized status during greeting.
Lounge was the quietest for breakfast between 7am and 8am then got quite busy afterwards. In the evenings busy most nights but still good service and a wide range of snacks provided.
Garden Cafe by the pool was a relaxing area to sit or eat, very attentive table service offered. Late check out of 3pm offered for day of departure which was gladly taken up on as not flying out until later that evening.
Great location with malls and MTR station within 5 - 10 mins walking

Would recommend this property!

Property: Hilton Surfers Paradise
Booked: Relaxation Room
Received: Relaxation Room
Stay : 2 nights Sat and Sun

Just the standard two bottles of water, another two at turn down, full breakfast at Catch and scored a free barista coffee on the second day for my partner. A tall lady, could be a manager, took us to our table and just asked if we wanted coffee and she brought it out later.

Must say the staff at this place have greatly improved from past stays, but the rooms really do not feel like the usual Hilton standard. Take the mattress for example, it's sinking in the middle.

Noise can be a bit of an issue with the night clubs and bars even on Sunday night. Could hear the music until 2am. Probably because some people don't have to work Mondays as a number of places were closed on Monday.

Property: DoubleTree Shanghai - Pudong
Booked: King Guest Room
Received: King Deluxe Suite

Haven’t seen any reviews of this property here so I’ll make this one a bit more comprehensive including some photos.

When I saw this property is rated 5* I was sceptical. I usually try to avoid DT when there are other options around but WA was too pricy, Hilton closed down so no other HH options left within reasonable distance from where I needed to be in the city.

Getting there can be challenging, although the hotel is technically in Pudong it’s nowhere near PVG airport.
Without luggage I recommend taking the Maglev plus metro (line 2 then 4) then short walk to hotel. The journey should take around 45-60 minutes. Combined ticket cost ¥55. With luggage best option is taxi all the way for ¥150.

The hotel has two big towers, the original west wing and the refurbished east wing where the executive lounge is.

I saw my upgrade already the night before, it was much appreciated particularly because I was staying for three nights. Check in was fast and efficient and I was offered the traditional cookie. I must say it tasted much better than the one offered in Australia (which is usually too dry). The Shanghai MACT recently banned hotels from collectively offer dental kit, comb, shaving kit, loofah, emery board and shoe sponge in and effort to minimise plastic waste, instead they are available by request.

My suite was large with separate living room, dining area, toilet and even a kitchen. Only issue was some stains on the carpet but no big deal as slippers were provided.

Breakfast was on the ground floor restaurant in the west wing. Huge selection of both Asian and western dishes including two chefs, one making eggs and noodles, the other making sweet (western) and savoury (Chinese) pancakes. It was by far the most impressive breakfast I had at any DT so far.

On the second day I decided to try the breakfast at executive lounge, located on the ground floor of the east wing. The place looked more like a restaurant and to my surprise it had an almost identical spread as the main restaurant, including a chef who prepared Asian and western dishes to order. It was much more relaxing to eat in the lounge where most of the crowd were businessmen as opposed to families with kids in the main restaurant.

During my stay I had the opportunity to visit the lounge during happy hour just once, for short time.
Arriving around 5pm I was told the service will begin in 30min but meanwhile I can help myself with drinks, including alcohol. Alcohol offers were wines and beers, didn’t see any spirits.
At 5:30pm the service began which was basically a large buffet, no less impressive than breakfast. Plenty hot and cold options, both Asian and Western and even a chef.

The most noticeable feature of this property is a big revolving restaurant on the top floor of west wing tower. When my clients heard where I’m staying they organised dinner there on my last night. Dinner was seafood buffet. The food was ok, not great but views overlooking Shanghai were spectacular.

Seems like you are still diamond in their system or something - Brisbane are known to only upgrade diamonds to executive rooms, I only ever got deluxe room back when I was a gold for a few years.

Which is again interesting, as once when a Diamond i did stay there and had an Exec room booked and got a Suite ( Love the bath there ) but it was a Sunday night booking... so may have been a pretty lightly booked day.

Seems theres alot of variation and somewhat a lottery.... sadly.

Property: Hilton Surfer's Paradise
Stayed: July 2019
Booked: Four nights in 2Br Apartment (through Hilton site) + One night in 2Br Ocean view through Amex Explorer credit
Received: Night one, 2 Br Apartment, city view. Rest of week, 2 Br ocean view
Status: Diamond

Disappointed to be given city view, small room on first night and after ringing was told there was no ocean view available (there were some seemingly available to book online?). They recovered though after that by moving us to an ocean view for the rest of the week and giving us full breakfast at Catch, including for the last night even though not booked through Hilton direct. Lounge access also given, water bottles on first night.

Word of warning if anyone else uses Amex travel to book through Hilton though. Upon check-in were told there was no record of our extra night booking. I gave them all the confirmation numbers etc. and checked everyday we were there. It wasn't until the morning of the stay they said they found it! They said it can take a few days sometimes - thank goodness that wasn't our first night we'd booked!!

Conrad Hong Kong
Status: Diamond
Booked: basic city view corporate rate
Received: harbour view exec level 60

Excellent stay as usual. Bottle of PJ in the room with fruit and macaroons. I also stay at JW marriott and Conrad is far superior room, view and lounge wise. One nice benefit, particularly wearing a suit in July, is express laundry charges are waived on exec levels.

Booked: King Deluxe
Received: Mountain View Executive
Rate: Amex FHR (AUD$400 minus $80 amex credit)

Inclusions: 728HKD F&B Credit, Brekkie, 4pm checkout

Also given 7am checkin so pretty generous. Also at checkin they noted the exec upgrade was owing to HH Gold.

Stairs down to the Exec Lounge are a brilliant idea.

Hong Kong is very quiet with the protests atm. Walking back from a night out in LKF along Queensway back to Conrad and me and a colleague were the only ones. Upgrades should be easy to come by at Conrad.
