Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

Ah good, thanks. That's the one I was planning on booking!

FWIW I have also had excellent experiences at the Hilton Vienna (opposite Mitte station) fantastic status recognition, upgrade and general helpfulness of the staff. Although I am Diamond so not sure how much bearing that would have (apart from the upgrade) but I did get the impression they were just like that for all their guests.

Looking forward to returning in October :)

Good to know. I haven't yet looked at prices.

From memory we found it more expensive than the Danube Waterfront, but roughly on par with the Hilton Vienna Plaza/maybe marginally more expensive. But for us it was the location that decided it: we arrived by train into Wien Hbf and left by plane, so it was a short taxi from Hbf to the hotel, and then across the street to Mitte for the airport train - least amount of mucking around with bags.

Since people are raving about Hiltons in Vienna I’ll add my 2c on Vienna Plaza which was fantastic in any way from location to service to lounge and breakfast. Glad to read other Hiltons in the city are as good because Europen hotels are hit and miss.

Excellent to hear we have the Vienna Plaza booked for a couple of nights in August.

Property: Hilton Surfers Paradise
Booked: Guest room
When: 9 March 2019
Rate: $200
Received: King Executive
Status: Diamond

Not much difference compared to the last stay. The pre arrival text message is a nice touch but didn't use it as we intended to self park and only had one bag.

Had full breakfast at Catch but this wasn't communicated to me at check in as we were only given the executive benefits details. I called downstairs to check where I could have breakfast after checking in. Barista coffee $5.

My pre arrival request of two extra towels via the app was not fulfilled. No diamond amenities in room. Did get a late checkout till 2pm but wasn't asked if I wanted one at check in.

Property: Doubletree Northbridge Perth
Booked: Standard Twin room
When: 19 March 2019
Rate: 27,000 points
Received: Corner King Executive Panoramic View (upgrade showed in the app the night before)
Status: Diamond

Breakfast offered either in the lounge or full breakfast in the restaurant with no coffee tax charged.

Pre arrival requests for a King room with a view and a photo of Michael McIntyre were fulfilled

Given the difference in rates on the date I booked (cash rates at the Parmelia Hilton were $100 more, with a points redemption at 35,000 ) and the lounge this property is a great option to have.

Staff are clearly still new but all were friendly and happy to help.

Hilton Surfers Paradise
December 2018, 1 night
Booked & Received: 3 bedroom residence
$355 (including $80 cash back via Hilton Amex offer)
Diamond benefits: early check in of 1pm promised but room wasn't ready until 3pm, late check out of 3pm provided. Was way too hungover to eat breakfast. Didn't use the EL (have never actually used it as this property). Received text prior to arrival offering valet parking etc but just self parked.

Hilton Brisbane
December 2018, 1 night
Booked: basic King room
Received: King Executive
Rate: App won't pull up receipt for some reason but rate was around 220ish from memory
Diamond benefits: all the usual Diamond benefits were offered - early check in, late check out (although not required), ladies in the EL were fantastic as always. They remembered me even only after staying four previous times in 2018, Breakfast in the restaurant was great.

Hilton JFK Airport
December 2018, 1 night
Booked: 1 king bed
Received: King bedroom suite
Rate: $271USD
Diamond benefits: Received upgrade a few hours prior to arrival, hadn't completed online check in yet. Upgrade was appreciated but room definitely needs a reno, outdated and decor was pretty old. Full buffet breakfast the next morning wasn't free, ended up costing about $10USD not including tip. Only problem was I could not find the hotel shuttle at JFK, tried calling the hotel and searched the website/app but nowhere listed where the pickup was from. After 25 mins at the airport I just caught a taxi which was about $17USD including tip.

Hilton Vancouver Airport
December 2018, 1 night
Booked: 1 King bed
Received: 1 King Bedroom suite
Rate: $299CAD
Diamond benefits: upgrade received upon check in at hotel, asked if they had a higher floor (was originally on level 6) and give this upgrade. Great sized room, buffet breakfast was free as Diamond.

London NYC (rebranding as a Conrad atm)
January 2019, 5 nights
Booked and received: Crown 1 King Suite
Rate: $400USD p/n
Diamond benefits: Received $60USD daily credit towards breakfast, no EL at property and no drink or food vouchers. Found the service at this hotel pretty awful: staff at breakfast would congregate in groups and chat amongst themselves, had a food delivery one evening and reception called to advise it had arrived, I asked them to bring it up and they said they would in 5 mins as it was busy, 20 mins later I went downstairs and saw 3 staff members chatting at the concierge desk with my food in plain sight, no customers in the foyer, they stated they forgot about it. For a country where tipping is expected I found the service woeful. Pretty disappointing especially considering it's rebranding to a Conrad.

West Hotel Sydney Curio Collection
January 2019, 1 night
Rate: $246
Booked: King Acacia Room (basic)
Received: King Sussex Suite
Diamond benefits: enquired about an upgrade on check in and was given this suite, found the staff to be absolutely amazing. The hotel itself is very modern with speakers in the room, chromecast on both TV's, great shower amenities and free minibar. Breakfast was free and pretty decent too. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and assisted with my bags despite me declining help.

DoubleTree Flinders St
February 2019, 2 nights
Rate: $299
Booked: King Guest Room
Received: Flinders St Station View
Diamond benefits: early check in (12pm), big handful of drink vouchers and daily breakfast. Upgrade was given a few hours prior to OL check in. Staff as always very helpful and friendly.

Booking (using points and therefore standard room) at Cairns and most likely DT. As Diamond, would be interested in what I should expect?

TIA

Just to follow from this, I'm thinking about booking the DT as gold. If I book the king guest, would I be expecting the city/mountain view room? Or do they usually bump up to the water view?

I have stayed there a few times as Diamond. Upgraded usually, but got the Mountain View, on one occasion. It may depend on which rooms have already been given to the busloads of tourists. If you stay there, you may see the hordes that I refer to. Not trying to put you off as it is far superior than the days when it was the Holiday Inn. :)

Property: Doubletree Northbridge Perth
Booked: Standard King
When: late March 2019
Rate: $110
Received: Corner King Executive Panoramic Suite 14th floor.
Status: Diamond
Benefits: lounge access, breakfast in restaurant, waters and cookie, tray of sweet pastries, late checkout of 6pm for $40 (negotiated in advance, but through my contact at the Parmelia Hilton!).

Great stay. Will post more in the dedicated thread. Will probably be my go to in Perth from now on.

Unfortunately the breakfast at West hotel has been “enhanced”. No longer are you able to order from the menu.

Pleased to report they are bringing back the breakfast menu in the next few weeks.

There’s a real enhancement in the suite’s fridge too. In my recent stay, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the usual 2 bottles of water had a lot of friends with them in the fridge :). So surprised that I started looking for the mini bar list but they’re all complementary!

Although my profile says away from the elevator, we were in 1801. Luckily, after having been in 1701 or so in January, we knew there's no noise from the elevators that comes through.

Disappointed that my pillow request went astray. At checkin, I was asked if it was my first time at the hotel - I bit my tongue, as we were here in Jan, though prior to that have only stayed once in 2016.
Underwhelmed by the "upgrade", but it's the same as what I had for our stay in Jan. We were there the weekend before the Men's TDU started, and the Women's TDU was still going. Tasting Australia this past weekend seems to have influenced high occupancy rates. I could have upgraded using NOR1 options to a Victoria Square view for about $15 or a Junior Suite for about $60 pn. I wasn't willing to pay that for the amount of time we would not be spending in the room. Although having a lounge might have been handy on Saturday afternoon, as we spent about an hour and a half in the Exec Lounge reading due to the lack of sitting space in our room. Mr Katie also had some micro naps instead of reading. ;)

Property: HH ADL
Booked: King Hilton room
When: April
Received: Suite

My first suite at the ADL HH (and second real upgrade). A fabulous room, that really was wasted on me as we were out Sat night, and gone early Sat Sun.

Oh well, at least I can now claim to have had a suite upgrade in Adelaide!

Property: Hilton Garden Inn New Delhi / Sarket

Booked King room

Received king room - don’t think they do anything higher

Diamond benefits. Full breakfast for 2 including coffee. Bottle of wine and fruit bowl in room

Rate circa $160 aud

Nothing particularly special about this hotel. It was reasonably convenient to the airport for a midnight arrival from HKG and access to the freeway to Agra. Great staff though.
