Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

guys i need to make a decision on whether to stay at conrad tokyo or the ritz carlton tokyo... I've stayed at the conrad tokyo before and nothing but praises.. but the ritz carlton will be redeemed from a travel package.
I'm really doing my head in, never stayed at the ritz, am a gold marriot member via plat charge. Diamond with HH via macq CC.

Which should I choose? the 50% off sale for jap hotels are ending soonish and tripadvisor reviews aren't really helping me decide..

Can only say really good things about the Conrad. Booked it on last year's sale and as a macq diamond still got an upgrade to a suite...first world issues:)

+1

Best city hotel in HH family. I'll say if you can get 50% on the dates you need go for it, otherwise try the Ritz.

its from 23/12 till 30/12 so some dates are 50% off and some arent. Will have to separate the bookings to make use of the 50% off.
The ritz is so attractive because of the cash value of the booking..

Only one stay and I'm in the minority - but I was very underwhelmed by the Conrad in Feb this year (there was nothing wrong, but actual promised, pre-communicated benefits such as early check-in, and an upgrade, were not honoured despite clear availability the night before; lounge offerings were well below average by Asian Hilton standards etc). Staff were generally terrific though.

Property: Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria
Date: 8 May - 3 Nights
Status: Gold
Booked: King Deluxe
Received: 6th Floor - King Premium with Rome View (2 category upgrade). This was despite having SEVERAL emails being sent to us from HH offering us "guaranteed upgrades" for points and another for $$$, which we ignored.

Two bottles of water per stay was the benefit, but we had two left with each housekeeping service (daily and turndown).

Two Drink Vouchers on arrival, didn't use

Breakfast not included, usually 25euro, discounted to 20euro for gold, and special offer of 15euro. Declined this offer.

Free access to spa, which we used for the whirlpool to relax before dinner, after walking all day.

Property: Hilton, Milan
Date: 11 May - 1 night
Status: Gold
Booked: King
Received: Executive King w/ Balcony

Two bottles of water
Breakfast not included
Executive lounge access (not worth it)
"Dedicated extension" for HH Gold and Diamond members for any requests/needs - although it was answered by duty manager when I called because our non-smoking room smelled like an ashtray, and she immediately came to the room.

What was the outcome of the call - moved rooms or other service recovery?

Moved to another room. Manager offered to wait for the bellman if I wanted to go to the lobby so I didn't have to be in the room (the smoke smell was truely awful, the look on her face said it all when she walked in). Very apologetic, I imagine some housekeeper had a call into the office.

Property: Hilton Sydney
Date: Friday 19 May 1 night
Status: Diamond
Booked: Guestroom Plus
Received: King Junior Suite

It had been awhile since staying on a friday night and was not expecting anything above an exec room so this upgrade was a nice surprise. Room was ready when checking in at 12 and was able to get 1pm checkout for the following day.

Lounge was quiet compared to the last few months and was told not all golds will get upgraded to exec rooms anymore and the ones that don't will get continental breakfast in glass.

Hilton Adelaide.
Booked Exec room.
Received Exec room. (online check-in secured corner room on 17th floor.
One night (a Friday). Am Diamond.

Average stay. Nothing wrong but no evidence of any Diamond treatment. Two waters in room (+2 more on turndown) but nothing else. Lounge in evening was ok. Didn't try breakfast so can't report on coffee tax unfortunately.

Undermanned front desk and fend for yourself entering and exiting the hotel with baggage.

Will only book when I can get good rates in future.

I've stayed at plenty US Hiltons and they all had body wash either as standard or upon request, that includes other properties in Hawaii. The excuse provided was incorrect.

The Ali'i towers property at Waikiki does provide body wash. It's the pick of the resort I think.

The last few times I have stayed at this property the lounge has been extremely crowded with food running out quickly in the evening and sometimes long lines for drinks. I think it will be a good thing to restrict lounge access to those who book exec rooms and Diamonds.
Breakfast at Glass isn't a patch on what it was a couple of years ago so the hotel really isn't losing by sending Golds there for cont. brekkie.

will be in adelaide this thursday , booked 2 rooms so will be interesting to see what happens

Expectation is get room i booked!

Hilton is not bad, especially if you can score an upgrade to one of the renovated junior suites.

I've only been once and it certainly was nothing to write home about. By the sounds of recent reports, nothing has changed. Surely Adelaide has better choices. I'm just wondering which ones they are?

Blackcat20 , if we make it in time we aim for a beer in the lounge
Mind you we are driving this from Wagga aiming to get there in a day
