Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

H-CNS did the right thing by me tonight.

They provided me with some excellent company by way of a few illustrious AFFers. Had an enjoyable evening of chatting, even though I failed to complete a report I was meant to do tonight! ;)

just arrived at HSYD. the hotel is 100% full (supposedly) but i've been upgraded for the first time ever here..Relaxation suite on 34th floor. lovely spa bath and quite a pleasant room. HSW relaxation suites are abit bigger. Too late for the EL and prawns.Roll on breakfast in Glass tomorrow.

That and the Relaxation rooms at SYD are my favorites.
Enjoy Brekkie :)

Must be because of that 'extra' glass of wine you had! ;)

Brekkie in Glass with Aeolus( she really needs to do her flight map!!). no dramas. Coffee in the EL rather than 'risk' a coffee charge.

Bit unfortunate for Gold but based on the massive queues I experienced on more than one occasion whilst trying (and failing) to have breakfast at Glass on the weekends prior to them stopping this benefit, I'd say it's being based on capacity.

This was one of the proposed reasons for the original decision apparently - I don't buy it however - if they were really interested in doing the 'right' thing _and_ reducing queue size at glass they could have simultaneously put a bit of effort into the EL breakfast which really didn't happen. I read into it therefore that this was really about cost cutting.

The EL at HSW when it first opened provided a reasonably decent breakfast even though it wasn't as varied as the main restaurant - scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon, small sausages, pancakes, cream, beans as well as fruit and the normal breads and cold cuts - it wasn't spectacular but I was happy enough at the time - this got reduced to almost nothing and a result I started going downstairs.

Ahhh - I was at H-CNS last night too; heard some aviation-related talk in the EL but didn't realise it was an AFF catch-up (novice mistake ;)). Will know next time to wander over and introduce myself.....

On a related note, to cover off some comments earlier in this thread, I made the booking through Agoda to maximise the Velocity Point earn; I showed my HH Diamond card at check-in and was immediately upgraded........

Hopefully they added your HH number to the booking and it's overlooked and credited to your account ;)

I can hardly be blamed if you were the one who collected the glass as you approached our table and then proceeded to drink it. I am innocent Your Honour - this time.

Nothing special like most US properties, seemed very basic. Very stingy, hotel seemed almost empty yet no upgrade and they kept a tight belt on making sure Gold's only had continental breakfast.

Received: King exec room

I had two stays here this week. Each time two bottles of water and a welcome note. First: Welcome Ms Tam; second: Welcome back Jessica*. Nice touch of personalisation.

Full breakfast in the downstairs dining room and coffee offered and supplied with no charge. 'Cooked to order' eggs took a good 15 minutes or so to appear.

* I met the GM on the first visit, so happy with "first name basis"

feeling the love tonight. been out since early morning and just back into 'my' suite at Syd hilton and there's been a turn down service( without me asking for it).. so far enjoying the stay here. unfortunately no real opportunity this visit to check out the prawns in the EL. maybe next visit

Property: DT Cairns
Booked: Double room
Received: King room*

Two bottles of water. Full breakfast in the dining room.

Now, about that breakfast. I ordered an omelette just before the kitchen closed; it turned up with ham after 15 minutes. The next one turned up with tomato. After half an hour or so I got what I originally ordered. Hmmm.

*Asked for king at checkin even though I had booked a double.

Prawns made an appearance again tonight but I was there quite late so only managed 1 drink. :p See you at breakfast?

Wasn't me!

I was there just before they closed at 8:00, drowning my sorrows after a bad run at the casino - I bet on red, only for the roulette wheel to churn out a string of 10 blacks and two zero's in a row ...... I threw in the towel at that point and sought solace in some Shiraz ;)

News from trusted sources, there will be an extended hot food option at the ELs of HSW and HSYD by end of the year or in the new year.
