Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Friday, 22 May to Sunday, 31 May (yes, 9 nights)
Property: Hilton Cairns
Room booked: King Room
Rate: Travelzoo $135 package rate (included bottle of red wine)
Received: Upgrade to King Suite, card from GM and the wine, obligatory 2 free water bottles per day

Wednesday, 8 July
Property: Hilton Parmelia Perth
Room booked: King Room
Rate: Award room
Received: Upgrade to King Suite, card from GM and the obligatory 2 free water bottles

Thursday, 9 July
Property: Hilton Adelaide
Room booked: King Room
Rate: Award room
Received: Upgrade to Exec Floor, card from GM and the obligatory 2 free water bottles

Saturday, 11 July
Property: Hilton Brisbane
Room booked: King Room
Rate: Met Package (birthday present for Mrs LW, included 2 buffet breakfasts at Atrium Cafe & 2 tickets to Qld Art Gallery for Impressionists Showing from Metropolitan Museum New York - to get some culture)
Received: Upgrade to Exec Floor, card from GM and the obligatory 2 free water bottles

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

I've had the Presidential Suite here once too (as part of an extraordinary service recovery) and it's nice too, but also not worth $1300+!

Even at $295 for a base room, I don't feel it's great value. Particularly without an Exec Lounge.

...lucky it's a tax deduction ðŸ

Status: Diamond
Property: Hilton Adelaide
Date 15 July 2015 for one night
Booked: Basic Guestroom for three rooms (one adult each)
Received: One Executive upgrade, the other two rooms in standard rooms
Rate: $251 per room

Check in process was sub-standard IMHO: Arrive about 6pm, the check in girl just gave keys, one in Level 16 and the other in Level 15. When I asked, she says one room got upgrade to Executive floor.. that is all information she provided, nothing else. She did not even tell me about the Diamond benefits or Executive Lounge hours, whether I can have breakfast in the temporary restaurant or newspaper, completely no information at all. Note this this is my very first stay in Hilton Adelaide!

We ended up having breakfast downstairs in the temporary restaurant, none of the rooms got charged for the breakfast.

Never in a million years. Looks quite lovely, clean lines and good space, but AUD$ (?) 940? I'd never want to leave the room if it cost me that much :)
I agree and infact, it's not that much difference between the suite and the corner room I received previously (not the bow suite) in terms of size. It's madness if they think they could charge 900+.
Straitman, thanks for sharing the room number, I'll ask HSW EL to allocate that room next time when you are not in residence! ;)
Moopere, I also agree with you re: comments about DTKUL's locality. If anyone is interested, the money exchange place at Ampang Plaza (connected to DT via the pedestrian bridge) has the best exchange rate in the whole of Malaysia (confirmed by locals).

Status: Diamond
Property: HSYD
Booked: King Guestroom Plus
Received: Relaxation room (regular), junior suite (once)
Been staying at HSYD more than my own home lately so they felt sorry for me and have made relaxation room a default - thank goodness! :D The downside is, I'm sick at even looking at the EL spread now. Oh, and for the past 2 months, no prawns in sight!

Re: The Hilton Breakfast Thread

Does anyone have any recent experience at the Hilton Surfers Paradise as a Gold?
We will be booking two rooms - I am diamond and was wondering what the chances are of the gold member being upgraded to an executive room so we could all enjoy the lounge together.

Fifa, we have a multitude of experiences we could share....but none exactly what you ask. However, If you book as a diamond (with a second room) our experience is you will receive an "in kind" upgrade for the second room. I'd agree with the others about being forthwith about the second room. It may prove productive.

Jokes aside (I giggled for a while) Parmelia is looking much nicer since the last time I was there...Admittedly a few years ago

Hmmmm, checking rates on a booking I have in a couple of weeks in PER and this comes up.

Wonder if Bronnie's expected in the Chopper ? ;)

Wow. Come in spinner rates. Maybe they know something we don't. As a side comment, that "Easy Cancel" rate actually looks OK. Isn't there a triple point bonus offer at the moment for "Best Flexible" rates?

On the subject of Gov't rates, I've recently noticed DT-CNS has reduced it's standard Gov't rate down to $115. I'm wondering if they're trying to move away from the "Tour Bus" special type of accommodation and more into the Gov't business model as that now represents about a 23% saving on H-CNS. I'm now asking myself just how much the lounge is worth to me. Certainly not $34, so I'm also wondering if DT might give better upgrades. H-CNS does not give suite upgrades to me at least, I wonder if DT will?

Property: Hilton Tokyo
Date 20/7 for ten nights
Booked: King guest room
Received: King executive room
Rate: $250 per room

Not a great start. Air conditioner is faulty and sounds like a siren going off all night. The rooms don't have proper blinds/curtains either, meaning its light in the room at 5am.

Forgive the asking of a stupid question, but are you closing the block-out shoji screens? They do a pretty good job in my experience of keeping the light out.

Just got told that Hilton Sydney is going back to full breakfast at Glass for gold and diamond members from tomorrow!!
Looking good for my trip next month.

I wonder if they had a noticeable drop off in bookings? I wouldn't imagine so, but you never know.

I stopped going to hilton Sydney after trying their breakfast upstairs in the lounge. Maybe they have noticed less gold/ diamond members.
