Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Property : Sydney
Booked : King Guestroom Deluxe
Received : Relaxation Suite
Rate : $263

Occasion was our wedding anniversary (noted in the comments on booking). I found the suite lovely. Hit the gym in the morning and was a little taken aback at the size, before twigging it's a 'real' health club. Somehow I sort of like the hotel-only quietness of say HSW's gym. Had to request water and couldn't get tv in living room to work, but hardly mattered. Reported it for the next guest.

Property: Hilton Sharjah
Booked: Standard Room
Received: Suite (I forget the technical name of the suite)

I booked this to break a journey in DXB. I soon discovered that not all the emirates are the same, viz. Sharjah is dry. Service was outstanding here, the executive lounge was reasonable, with nice views over the lagoon. The bedroom of the suite overlooked the mosque at the rear which meant a very early wake up call! Nice place to chill - I got lots of work done as well as catching up on reading.

Booked: Standard Room
Received: Standard Room

After waiting an age in the freezing cold for the shuttle way out in the car park, I arrived to get an ordinary room on a lower floor. I received a drink voucher for the bar as well as a breakfast voucher. I was desperately tired and after enduring the worst BA flight from LHR I was looking forward to a good sleep which I got. I was charged EUR2 for the shuttle back to the airport to pick up a car. Don't expect too much at this property. There is a Tesco nearby if you have to buy stuff.

What's the canapé offering like in the lounge? The bonus I guess with this one is the price over the DXB Hiltons.

Yes it was price that was the big decider as I just wanted a break in travelling as I was beginning a private trip from DXB at that point. The canapes were pretty dire. If you just wanted food to eat because you are peckish, well maybe ok. Looked like all frozen stuff to me.

Bummer, I was thinking it's be impressive as they cannot offer alcohol. A bit sad that they stinge (mandatorily) on grog and then stinge on the canapés!

Hilton Brisbane. Booked King Exec room ..Stay Angel said I'd been upgraded..to A King Exec room!!

Large bottle of water in room. No requested amentities( just dental). Handed welcome note at check in. Loud hammering at 0615 next meeting - front desk checked - coming from council workers in the mall getting things ready for G20..Andrea on front desk excellent - noted in my profile to organise a room on opposite side to mall for next stay..

Internet ALOT faster and doesn't drop out now - excellent

Had lunch in Vintaged - really good just not enough staff especially with a couple of larger tables pre booked for lunch

They are braking the wall between the suite and the room next to it on level 25 to make a larger suite for a certain demanding president...

Andrea checked for me - no engineering on site til 8.. suppose it could have been Putin's little helpers at work

Jack-hammering the bugs out all the walls for the G20. Now less than two weeks to locate and remove them all.

Date: 1 October 2014
Status: Gold
Property: Conrad Centennial, Singapore
Booked: King Exec
Received: Ambassador Suite (1 bedroom, lounge, dining, 2 bathrooms). At least a double upgrade. High floor, felt like a 270 degree view.
Rate: AAA was approx. $300.

Only here 1 night and didn't get much time to enjoy the hotel, but as per a previous stay, lounge and staff are terrific. Several waters in room, fruit platter and box of chocolates. Full breakfast in Oscars. Terrific upgrade but just one night...

Two stays at the Conrad Dubai:

Date: 3 nights, early October 2014
Status: Gold
Property: Conrad Dubai
Booked: Exec Suite with lounge access
Received: Exec Suite with lounge access. Corner suite, floor 44 (of 46). Check-in lady at first said 'we have upgraded you' then realised her mistake and apologised profusely.
Rate: Expensive!!!!

Multiple bottles of water, replenished twice a day. Huge fruit platter. Large box of dates. Welcome letter in room. (arrived 3am so lounge was closed and didn't check-in there). Breakfast in lounge or in main restaurant (definitely worth eating in the main restaurant).

Date: 2 nights, late October 2014
Status: Diamond
Property: Conrad Dubai
Booked: Deluxe skyline view
Received: King Exec with lounge (same room, but high floor 42 and lounge access of course).
Rate: Expensive!! (Half price per night of the first stay).
Lounge check-in and all else as above, except smaller fruit platter, smaller box of dates and fewer waters.

For both - staff throughout hotel excellent and very helpful. Second visit was greeted by several staff just like a long-lost-cousin (I am quite recognisable due to some mobility issues but still that was very impressive).
Lounge is very good but not exceptional - staff fantastic and open from 6am to 11pm, but food options somewhat limited. Cakes/pastries in afternoon, basic sandwiches on request. Alcohol and canapés 6pm to 8pm only. Range of food limited. Tasty and different hot options every night but designed very much as appetisers.

Minor quibbles re being charged after check-out to handle some minor postage which I have discovered has been lost, and a request for transport not fulfilled. Otherwise both were impressive stays. But at a cost.

Shame about the lack of staff. I actually really enjoy the evening meal at Vintaged (especially with some nice wine and good AFFer company! ;))

Property: Hilton London Metropole
Booked: Twin Hilton Guestroom (king rooms sold out)
Received: Executive King
Rate: £135

Checked in early at 11am. Originally given a Queen Superior Room in the West Wing, it was a renovated corner room and for London it was big. But unfortunately the wifi kept dropping out and I wasn't too keen on the walk through the lobby to the gym and pool so asked for a room closer. Was then given an executive room, smaller and not renovated but I was happy.

Executive lounge was good but pays to get there early as its a little small and difficult to get a seat between 6-7pm. Didn't really get to try the afternoon tea, as I was walking in 4 teenage girls walked out with plates full of cakes and slices, the front desk was unattended so they seized the opportunity to clean the place out. Later during canapes I also witnessed a few noisy maybe 18 year old girls free pouring the vodka into wine glasses to do 'shots' which made me laugh. I haven't seen that since my last stay at HSP :p

Was going to try the breakfast in the restaurant but when I saw the line of about 40 people waiting for a table I pretty quickly went back to the lounge. Overall other then the upgrade and wifi didn't really get any status recognition but it is a conference hotel so didn't expect too much.

Property: Hilton Berlin
Booked: Junior Dome Suite
Received: Junior Dome Suite - low floor and next to elevators (exact opposite of request and preferences).
Rate: MVP rate was approx. 200 euro per night.

Arrived exhausted so didn't quibble with room location at the time, but left feedback via survey on departure and received an email apology/explanation (standard stuff re occupancy) quite quickly.

Large bottle of water in room replenished daily. Lounge was very good. Open all day, with decent soft drinks and snacks most of the time. Substantial and decent canapés in evening 6pm to 9pm from memory. Decent wines and spirits. Excellent service (so much so that I tipped one gentleman who looked after me particularly well after I asked him for assistance on one occasion).

Breakfast was in lounge only but was a bit more than just a continental only, with bacon/scrambled eggs/sausages/mushrooms etc.

Excellent location in heart of city. On top of U station (so a bit noisy but very convenient). Touristy area but that's what I was. And met several AFFers in Berlin too.

There was a conference or two at the hotel, so no upgrade possible. Two bottles of water at checkin, which were not replaced during the stay. The exec lounge was pleasant enough with a continental breakfast available. The evening drinks were a cash bar with some basic nibbles. I didn't worry about visiting in the evening after the first night.

2 bottles of water at checkin and a cookie (which I declined as always). The Ambassador suite was massive - it is always the great upgrades when I am only staying one night. For those who saw QF WP's room in the ASP DT, think half as big again. Kitchen, 2 bathrooms, dining area, lounge etc...

Very helpful staff. The breakfast was included as a Diamond, and there was a reasonable selection of hot and cold foods.

I am not sure that status means much here. A pleasant room on the second floor (of three). Breakfast was offered, and I just had yoghurt and juice. I chose to skip the cheeseburger and (very) powdered eggs.

Included a shuttle to IAH the next morning.
