Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

Does anyone know how Hilton Adelaide treats Gold members these days? I have a booking with them next year and I am wondering whether I will get upgraded to EL and get free breakfast. I stayed them a number of times before and always got upgraded without fuss even though I booked the lowest category rooms, but I haven't stayed with them in the last couple of years.

My last stay at ADL was almost a year ago - at that time I found the rate very reasonable and as a Gold I got an upgrade from base to Exec, got the hot breaky too, though losing this seems to be spreading like wildfire throughout AU for golds.

Maybe we need to list any Hiltons in Australia that still provide EL upgrade with brekkie on the first post of this thread? Afterall, with the changes I can see a lot of Golds looking for this info.

We did have people posting their Australian Hilton summaries but it seems to have dropped off a bit.

Wonder if it's the new app or just people traveling less. Ect..

In Prague staying at the Hilton as Gold with family. Invited to check in at exec floor, full lounge bennies conferred along with the invite for the 3 of us to enjoy full breakfast at the restaurant if we wish. Same family room we booked but on executive floor.

Which Prague HH are you staying in?

I must admit that I stopped doing it, simply because I'm in a limited number of hotels and the reports were generally all similar. Given the recent concerns, perhaps especially golds might like to start it up again, just so we can establish where the hotels currently sit on the gold issue!

Should we have a benefits thread thats not specific to Sydney breakfasts? I usually put all my stays in this thread anyway.

Property: Hilton Auckland
Date: Sept 2015
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Harbour view
Received: Bow suite

Great stay. Usual terrific staff and good service. Recognise me now and was nice to have some personal welcomes from doormen and the breakfast teams.

Upgrade was noted 2 days in advance on website. But couldn't book room via app or website. Only floor 4 seemed available.

On arrival - very early - about 7am - was granted Bow suite on floor 6. No wait at all. Very happy as I fully expected to have to wait a few hours. I had breakfast and signed for it (as I knew it was not included being an extra day) - on checkout, the charge had been removed.

4 drink vouchers for 2 night stay. Barman on second night gave me generous serves and a free drink - much appreciated. He did get a nice little tip!

Waters in room after turndown, but no other amenity. Not surprising given very early arrival and a good upgrade. I was assured the bar and reception work would be complete within a few weeks - the works are ok but a bit inconvenient.

All up, another really good stay. I am mildly disappointed they aren't introducing a lounge as part of the upgrades/refurb - but business is booming so it's not essential for them, clearly.

Back in may they still upgraded you to exec lounge and gave you the full buffet breakfaet.

Something refreshingly different, received an invite to a welcoming reception at Glass tomorrow evening, hosted by HSYD's GM. Was told it's a special one-of event for the HH elite guests. Well done HSYD. :) Hope they take my feedback seriously, top of the list would be the coffee tax of course!!! Any other suggestions?

The invite sounds good. Maybe it could become something of a regular event. +1 for the coffee nickel-and-diming.. So tacky, and would it do that much for their bottom line? To be honest, since that came in, I just go for the ready-made tea.

The new breakfast rules for golds...

I stayed at HH Brisbane this past Sunday night as a HH Gold. Booked the cheapest Guest level room expecting to be offered an upgrade to an Executive room.
Day before online checkin had a message I had been upgraded, went to choose room various Deluxe rms were offered, decided to not proceed and take my chances at reception.

On arrival again was told I had been upgraded as a Gold HH, I noticed the room was on level 18 (not an exec floor). I asked if Executive lounge access was available, then politely but firmly explained 1 level of room upgrade is offered to golds.

Back in May was upgraded to Executive floor room, hence my expectation and now disappointment.

For breakfast, you can upgrade to hot breakfast for $10.

How generous they are, only $10 for some egg and bacon, wonderful!

Looks like 20+ stays a year gold people are not worthy of much in Brisbane.

What about decent room upgrades for Diamonds? The upgrade I received for a 3 night stay was a joke.

Property: Hilton Guam
Date: Sep 15
Status: Diamond
Booked: Twin Partial Ocean View Room
Received: Premier Suite
Cost: $160 per night

Asked politely if there were any diamond upgrades available given an enormous room with an amazing ocean view. The biggest bathroom i have ever been in. Very happy. Exec Lounge is very basic but pool here is lovely.

Same here and up to Level 36 for Nespresso but they like to use skim milk in the milk frother, which to me, kills the taste of coffee.:(
I've had a number of occasions when I had coffee at Glass and although it was marked on the paper that it's chargeable, they forgot to charge me :D
Oh and thanks for the suggestions, will bring them up - all depends on how much airspace I get from the GM.

Just in case they try to tell you the tax is charged in all Australian hiltons (I've heard that excuse before at HSYD) make sure to point out that ATM the only other constant offender is HBNE and all the rest don't charge or waive the tax for diamonds.

Another thing, even more important, the staff at HSYD have a bad habit of lying to guests about room availability at check in. They should know that it takes less then 5 seconds for guests to check it via the HH app ;)
