Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

you could tell he read my profile on OnQ,

I think the best check-in experience I've ever had was at the SYD Hilton. Perhaps they do read the OnQ notes........except with the sometimes very ordinary HSP experiences, I'm not entirely sure I'd have the best repertoire in OnQ

SYD Hilton - Is the Relaxation Room classed as a normal room or suite? I'm a Gold member and failed to receive an upgrade last month (booked an Exec) -- which I put down to no Relaxation Rooms available online for that night.

I'm going again on the 13th so hoping to receive an upgrade from a booked Exec Room. I won't be there long enough to enjoy the Lounge so hoping a room upgrade can make it more worthwhile... :)

Status: Diamond
Property: Hilton Abu Dhabi
Date: 1 - 4 June
Booked: King guest room
Received: King exec room

2 bottles water (replaced daily), Welcome 'back' note from GM (my first stay), fruit plate.

This is the oldest hotel in Abu Dhabi, and it does show a bit. But the staff are all lovely and obliging so I am not complaining. There is some sort of food on offer pretty well from 0630 to 2030, what with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and canapes. The lounge is not particulaly inspiring, but given the size of the hotel, plenty big enough with a view of the beach. It is open from 0600 - 0000.

There are two levels of Relaxation at Sydney Hilton - there's a Relaxation Room which is a large room with a big bathroom and a spa bath, and there's a relaxation suite which are the rooms at the ends of the hotel - theses are two room suites that have a massive two-person spa that looks out either east or west. The easterly facing ones are room xx06 and I can't remember what the western facing relaxation suites are.

Good luck with an upgrade.
I am Diamond and out of around 6 or 7 stays I have only received 2 upgrades - once to a relaxation room (due to an issue on a previous stay) and once to a relaxation suite.
My rooms however, are always on a high floor.

The most annoying thing about the "standard" upgrades from low floor to "executive" room on high floor is that the room is exactly the same!!! So what's the upgrade here?! Lounge access which diamond gets anyway?
Better view? After a few stays at the same location, who cares about the same city view anymore?

It's always stunts me the huge difference between the small and cramped rooms and the HUGE king suites they upgrade to once every 100 stays.

The relaxation rooms & suites are very nice but booking a regular tiny room, then hope & pray for an upgrade is not something I like to do.
When I have a choice, I book the Sheraton or the Westin, where even the cheapest rooms are good size and very comfortable.

Last time I booked (and received) an Exec room and thought, "wow, not even these rooms are any bigger!......"

I couldn't agree more. I do love the Hilton Sydney due to the location and the Relaxation Suites, but I've long since given up expecting any kind of upgrade due to Hilton Honors status.
I now treat a stay there a bit like a long haul flight : I book the lowest category I think I can live with

Agreed. I have booked an exec room later this month and am just waiting for them to tell me I have been 'upgraded' to the exec room I actually booked. I recall it happened to someone else recently, although can't find the post.

I see this morning that for a stay tonight we've been upgraded to the dizzying heights of a Deluxe Room. Will I cope? But the attentive staff in the EL, any meal in Glass and the ambiance generally are still very good so I usually come away satisfied. And this should be the stay that pushes me to Diamond again for next year. Hilton have certainly got their money out of the VA promo 18 months ago.

I booked an Exec room last month and was given a Relaxation suite so there is hope.

Status:Gold
Property: Conrad Singapore
Duration: 4 nights
Booked: King guest room
Received: King business room with Executive Lounge access

Received chocolates, water daily however no welcome note.

Asked about access to the EL upon check in. I was asked if i would be using the laundry benefits as part of the business room perks and i said no so was subsequently granted EL access.
EL was fantastic as always. Great food and drink selection and the service from the staff was second to none. Still the best EL that i have visited.

Conrad was its usual great self. The room did have a few broken light globes and the privacy light did not work. Otherwise a great stay.

Arrived at Hilton Sydney to find ourselves in a corner Executive Room. There is noticeably more space than the usual so I'm happy.

I often look at the reservation online to check if I have been upgraded. Does anyone know if this always shows in the reservation say the morning of the check in, or is it only sometimes it shows up?

It really depends on the hotel.
This morning I checked our stay at Conrad Singapore tomorrow and the booked King Guest Room is showing as a King Executive Room.

With all this SYD Hilton talk, I'm feeling kind of privileged . I've only ever had a Corner Exec room or a suite........I guess that means I'm due for absolutely zip come end of month :(!

The suite I received, was called (by check-in) a King Suite. It had a large recessed bath looking east with a TV in front of the window, but definitely not a spa bath. Would I be correct in imagining the relaxation suite is the same but with a spa bath?

No I think it's different.
Did you have the suite which takes up the entire side of the building with a walk through bathroom (bedroom on one side and lounge area on the other)?
