Asleep. Heard some fireworks at 12.15am but out like a light before that. Didn't hear much of anything at all and we live near a pub at the beach.

NYE in PJs with the dogs is how I've spent every NYE in years. Get to watch the Sydney crackers on the TV, then hunt for a screening of it that my foreign friends can watch (this year the Telegraph put up the ABC feed on You Tube, top effort).

I'm rural so if I go anywhere, I can't drink as there's lots of police between anywhere and home, and watching those cracker displays I think about the horrendous business of getting home from those. Like the Israelites departure from Egypt. Nope, bugger that.

NYE is an arbitrary construct anyway. At 10pm they screened the crackers in Auckland, 2021 there, and my US friend are still at work or shopping or whatever. It's just somehting we've slapped over the top.

I was the only one in our house awake at midnight. We were babysitting our 4 & 7 year old grandkids so they were fast asleep and my wife was tired out by them so she was asleep as well.

I was invited to friends for dinner with strict instructions it wouldn't be a late night - we had an earlyish very enjoyable dinner and I was hope by 10.30 and asleep by 11 which is early for me but very enjoyable

Drinking at a friends house. Home at 2am. Feeling horrible all day, couch bound.

Standard.

I'm envious right now of all you healthy feeling people.

Finished work at 11 pm, came back home to find my Louis Roederer Champagne at the perfect temperature with foie gras (duck liver terrine), a fresh-baked baguette and great company with my friends as well with my family back in Europe via Facetime.

Strange times.

Reminds me of that witty Frank Sinarta quip................

“I feel sorry for people that don't drink, because when they wake up in the morning, that is the best they are going to feel all day-”

Went out camping at a lovely spot just past Traralgon just off the beach... setting up camp and sitting around a campfire, eating bush-cooked food and a cold ginger beer. Was a great way to say 🖕 to 2020 and start 2021. Surrounded by our closest friends and their furry little one.
